Lonely The Brave have been deliberately quiet these last few months, working on new material and reassessing what has come before. This has been all the more noticeable because before then, they had never stopped: last year alone saw them secure a no.1 on the rock chart with their second LP “Things Will Matter”, sell-out a headline tour and play main support on a hugely successful European tour with Biffy Clyro, followed with a thematically linked series of EP’s which have shown the sheer depth of strong material that was available to them around that second record. The French industrial-goth metal band Porn have just released their third album,’The Ogre Inside’, from which the song ‘You Will Be The Death Of Me’ has a provocative new video available now. Porn leader Philippe Deschemin describes the song as being about “life, death and love and the fact that love is like humans – mortal. I am obsessed by death, which I see everywhere. Everything ends, everything dies. And sometimes, maybe always, being in a relationship means to kill the previous version of yourself. You change, and in a way you die, to be reborn as another you. The new video is a metaphor for death, a ‘mise à mort’, and I wanted to place the female protagonist in the dominant position.”               More »

Exit Kings Cross Station at the St Pancras Road end and bear left. A pleasant five-minute stroll down a pedestrian boulevard leads you across Regent’s Canal and onto Granary Square, a tranquil oasis seemingly far removed from the City hustle and bustle just around the corner. There is a distinct cosmopolitan vibe and sense of cultural well-being here. The area is teeming with people sampling world cuisine from mobile stalls, relaxing on benches in front of the impressive synchronised water jet-fountains and hanging around the many trendy upmarket bars and art shops. Situated just around the corner at the heart of this classy modern development in Stable Street, is Spiritland. Surely one of London’s coolest venues for music fans, it was here that premium British Hifi-company Data Conversion Systems, known and venerated throughout the audiophile world simply as DCS, held their 30th Anniversary celebration last week.
