EMMESpeakers contacted Hifi Pig to inform us that it’s started the production of its new flagship loudspeaker: The Galileo.
Developed from the concept of the companies Da Vinci loudspeaker (and its success in terms of sales) The Galileo is said to represent a “massive evolution” from its predecessor and when looking to design their new loudspeaker EMMESpeakers have looked to have presence, impact and towering soundstage as its design requirements.
The new Galileo loudspeaker is a three way , sealed box loudspeaker that sports four 10″ rear facing aluminium woofers, two 2.5” Accuton CELL ceramic woofers and a half inch Accuton CELL ceramic tweeter.
The loudspeakers are 86db sensitive, will handle 300 watts, have a nominal impedence of 6 Ohms and have a quoted frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz.
Bryston, has announced the introduction of a new series of loudspeakers designed to complement their Model T offering introduced at CES 2013. The Model A series has the same design principals as the Model T, with a focus toward minimizing distortion and compression during music and home theater playback.
The new Model A series relies upon an array of newly designed drivers including a 6.5-inch woofer rather than the 8-inch version used in the Model T series. The Bryston Model A lineup will initially launch with a bookshelf speaker called the Mini A as well as three floor-standing towers called the Model A1 Tower, Model A2 Tower and Model A3 Tower. These four loudspeakers will become available through authorized Bryston dealers beginning Q4, 2013. Bryston will be adding a matching Model A Center Channel, Model A Surrounds and matching Model A powered Subwoofer in the coming months. The new Mini A bookshelf speaker features a 6.5 woofer, a 3-inch midrange driver and 1-inch tweeter in a three-way configuration.
USA/Canadian suggested list prices (per pair) are $3,250 for Model A1 Tower, $2,395 for Model A2 Tower and $1,995 for Model A3 Tower. The Mini A bookshelf speaker will have an MSRP of $1200 per pair. “After a strong launch of our first series of loudspeakers resulting in outstanding feedback from both reviewers and our customers earlier this year, it became clear that consumers need high performance loudspeaker options in a full range of sizes,” explained Bryston sales VP James Tanner. “The Model A lineup addresses that need, delivering the sonic realism of our larger Model T speakers from smaller enclosures,” added Tanner.
Etalon announces Duosono Plus which is an evolution of the company’s Duosono broad-band loudspeaker.
The Duosono Plus is a floor-standing loudspeaker equipped with two bass/midrange made from an aluminum, magnesium/titanium alloy used in the company’s Duosono, to which Etalon have added the tweeter used in their Minisono whose membrane consists of the same alloy.
The extreme rigidity of these membranes, due to their exceptional lightness, gives the Duosono Plus an impulse response that is said to “perfectly reproduce the attack of instruments”.
The Duosono Plus will have its world premiere at show High Fidelity Show, which runs from 2 to 3 November in Paris.
Power Handling: 60W

Hifi PIg will be speaking to Etalon and hope to bring you a review soon.
G Point-Audio has today announced that they have been appointed exclusive representative for Ukrainian artisan loudspeaker manufacturer Contrast Audio. The announcement broadens the range of products available from G Point and reaffirms their philosophy of “offering the best sound quality money can buy”.
Contrast Audio are a manufacturer with 10 years experience in the design and manufacture of acoustic systems based on their own highly linear drivers. All their loudspeakers are built on the principle of minimum crossover interference (first order filter), which gives “high sensitivity and accurate sound”. The drivers use only natural materials (paper cone, paper coil of magnetic system, wooden phase corrector, etc.).
There are five models in the Contrast Audio, plus a range of interconnects and loudspeaker cables which match those used in the speakers themselves.
The finish of the loudspeakers is said to be exemplary with five piano lacquer colours available as standard and any colour available on request.
Quad has added a couple of floorstanding loudspeakers to their Classic L range of speakers.
The two new models are the L 23L and the 25l and both use Kevlar drivers and a downward firing bass radiator.
The 23L is 92.5cm high with a 2.5cm fabric dome tweeter and 12.5cm drivers for mids and bass. The downward firing radiator is 16.5cm.
The 25L is the bigger of the two new models and stand 112.5cm tall, has 12.5cm drivers for mid duties and a pair of 16.5cm units for the bass. The downward firing bass radiator is 20cm. The 25L shares the same tweeter as its smaller sibling.
Prices are £1300 to £2200 depending on finish.
