TAGA Harmony have launched the Platinum F-90 SL v.2, which derives technology and sound characteristics from their higher-end Platinum v.3 series,  in a slimmer and optically lighter enclosure.

There are only a few components which the newest Platinum F-90 SL v.2 shares with the previous edition, the BOM bassreflex port, TTP Tweeter Top Plate and speaker terminals. All other components are totally new or significantly upgraded.

Internal Changes

The Platinum F-90 SL v.2 features the 2nd generation TLIE-I enclosure (Taga Low Interference Enclosures), strengthened by using a thicker internal bracing and additional transverse strengthening bar, a thicker front MDF baffle wall (from 15 mm to 18 mm) and increased internal volume (the enclosure has grown from 24.5 cm to 30 cm).

Also new is the 2nd generation TPTTD-I tweeter (Taga Pure Titanium Tweeter Dome) uses a new differently shaped and lighter titanium dome as well as an addition of a copper ring on the T-yoke.

The speaker also makes use of the new 2nd generation TWG-I tweeter faceplate (Taga WaveGuide) which is a specialised horn-like design of the tweeter’s faceplate using concave diffusers as well as a dome metal grill. The 2nd generation TPACD-I midrange, mid-woofer and woofer drivers (Taga Pure Aluminum Cone Driver) have a rigid aluminum chassis. There is also the new TRCS cone surround (Taga Reversed Cone Surround) which provides more stable, faster and greater range of cone movement.

Also new in the Platinum F-90 SL v.2 are differently shaped and lighter aluminum cones, new flat pure aluminum dust caps, a heavy duty and powerful motor structure including oversized magnet, the 2nd generation TPAPR-I radiator (Taga Pure Aluminum Passive Radiator), a bigger bassreflex port and high-end enclosure damping material. Cosmetic changes include magnetically mountable grills and totally new feet.
