TWO NEW REFERENCE PRODUCTS FROM HEADFI BRAND HIFIMAN FEATURE HYMALAYA PRO AND CUSTOM HYMALAYA LADDER DAC
HIFIMAN Electronics introduces a new reference DAC/Amplifier, featuring proprietary Himalaya Pro R-2R Ladder DAC and HIFIMAN SVANAR True Wireless Earbuds with onboard amplifier and custom ladder DAC.
Yesterday in New York HIFIMAN announced two new reference level products, a new reference desktop DAC/amplifier featuring the company’s recently developed Himalaya Pro ladder DAC, plus HIFIMAN SVANAR True Wireless Earbuds with onboard amplifier and custom Himalaya Ladder DAC.
HIFIMAN EF1000DAC DESKTOP DAC/AMPLIFIER
The EF1000DAC is a statement of the HIFIMAN design team’s” talent for developing high-fidelity, highly efficient technologies that represent unmatched sonic output with maximum energy savings”. The headphone amplifier section features a power output of 13.7 watts with quad matched transistors.
HYMALAYA PRO LADDER DAC
The standout feature of the DAC section is HIFIMAN’s proprietary Hymalaya Pro Ladder DAC, an update of the company’s first-generation Hymalaya DAC, originally released in 2021.
Between the R-2R resistor ladder network and the controller, the commonplace PCM1704 chip ladder DAC and others like it consume extensive power in the switch section. HIFIMAN’s Hymalaya architecture removes the switches while maintaining a similar or improved level of Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) as the PCM1704K DAC chip, with greater power handling and overall efficiency, as well as, they say, improved sonic performance.
DISCRETE OP-AMP
As the new top-of-the-line DAC/amplifier in the HIFIMAN lineup, the EF1000DAC includes several updates to the original EF1000 amplifier. The new model is the first to feature HIFIMAN’s Discrete Op-amp at the input stage, which functions at high-voltage 26 V, with an output of 12 V at 0.0003% THD and output impedance measured at 100 ohms.
Thanks to the Hymalaya PRO DAC and ultra-precise Discrete Op-amp module, EF1000DAC’s Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) is as low as 0.0012%. Rounding out the EF1000DAC are quad matched transistors in each channel, in the fully balanced 13.7-watt output stage. In addition, there is a fully balanced step volume control and a 150 W transformer with oxygen-free copper wire.
INPUTS AND OUTPUTS
The EF1000DAC includes four input options: USB, optical, coaxial, and RCA. In addition, users can stream LDAC and Apt-X HD Bluetooth for sonics that are demonstrably better than standard BT streams. Outputs on the front panel include 4-pin XLR and 6.5mm, while RCA single-ended and balanced XLR outputs are on the back panel.
HIFIMAN SVANAR TRUE WIRELESS EARBUD
The HIFIMAN SVANAR True Wireless Earbud is the Headfi brand’s new reference True Wireless earbud with on-board amplifier and custom Himalaya ladder DAC.
The new SVANAR Wireless is a professionally tuned True Wireless earbud designed for a variety of applications, from focused listening to athletics. Its 10mm dynamic driver is tuned for full range output.
CUSTOM HYMALYA LADDER DAC
The full range high-performance Bluetooth 5.2 earbud features a custom version of HIFIMAN’s Himalaya multi-bit ladder DAC/AMP module that results, says HIFIMAN, “in clearly audible sonic improvements over a standard wireless receiver’s built-in 1 bit DAC”. Combined with the headphone amplifier module, the SVANAR Wireless achieves high-resolution sonics that are “detailed and full range, reflecting the maximum quality of the recording or live stream, especially when listening to high-resolution LDAC, AAC, and SBC files”.
TOPOLOGY DIAPHRAGM
In addition to the Hymalaya DAC, SVANAR Wireless features HIFIMAN Electronics’ Topology Diaphragm: each earbud’s diaphragm, which converts mechanical vibrations to sound, is covered with a Nano particle coating.
NOISE-CANCELING TECH
SVANAR Wireless is designed to be enjoyed on the go, with two noise canceling technologies — ANC Deep Noise Cancellation and ENC Deep Voice Cancellation. ANC accurately identifies and eliminates noise up to -35dB. And, to keep voice calls clear and clutter-free, ENC relies on artificial intelligence that simulates the human auditory system, extracting the human voice while filtering out extraneous noise.
EARBUD SPECS
The frequency range of SVANAR Wireless is 10Hz to 35KHz. The on-board amp output is rated at 45mW. Average battery time is four-to-seven hours, depending upon usage. Earbuds, each of which weigh 8g, can be charged three times before needing to recharge the case. In addtion, SVANAR Wireless is IPX5-rated for resistance to sweat and dirt over hours of uninterrupted service.
