PRO-JECT A1.2 FULLY AUTOMATIC TURNTABLE WITH NEW UPGRADES
Pro-Ject Audio Systems has unveiled the Pro-Ject A1.2, the latest addition to its AUTOMAT range.
Replacing the original A1, which launched in 2022, and refining its fully automatic turntable design with new mechanical and performance enhancements, the Pro-Ject A1.2 retains Pro-Ject’s commitment to high-quality analogue playback while making vinyl listening even more accessible.
PRO-JECT A1.2 FULLY AUTOMATIC TURNTABLE UPDATED DRIVE SYSTEM
Pro-Ject A1.2 introduces an updated drive system designed to improve speed stability and playback accuracy. At the core of its performance is a newly designed die-cast aluminium platter, replacing the stamped version found on the A1. The platter is CNC-machined for consistency and reduced resonance, contributing to a more stable vinyl experience.

NEW CARBON FIBRE-REINFORCED HEADSHELL
Another key update is the redesigned headshell, now constructed from carbon fibre-reinforced polymer. This material enhances stability while keeping the weight low—essential for fully automatic turntable operation. The A1.2 also continues to use an ultra-light 8.3” aluminium tonearm, optimised for precision tracking and paired with a pre-adjusted Pro-Ject Pick it MM E cartridge.
FULLY AUTOMATIC OPERATION, MECHANICALLY DRIVEN
A standout feature of the Pro-Ject A1.2 is its fully mechanical automatic operation. Unlike some automatic turntables that rely on motors or electrical components in the tonearm mechanism, the A1.2’s mechanics disengage completely once the record starts playing.
The A1.2 continues Pro-Ject’s tradition of European craftsmanship. Its automatic mechanism is handmade in a German factory renowned for its expertise in turntable manufacturing. Final assembly takes place in the Czech Republic.
DESIGNED FOR EASY SETUP AND VERSATILITY
Setting up the Pro-Ject A1.2 is a straightforward process, making it a great choice for both newcomers and experienced vinyl enthusiasts. The tracking force and anti-skating are pre-adjusted at the factory, while the included cartridge is aligned and ready for playback. The built-in switchable phono preamp allows the A1.2 to connect directly to any line-level input, or users can integrate it with an external phono stage for added flexibility.
SOLID BUILD AND RESONANCE CONTROL
The A1.2’s resonance-damped wooden chassis, combined with silicon-damped feet, helps isolate the turntable from unwanted vibrations. This design ensures that external disturbances do not affect playback quality. Additionally, Pro-Ject includes its premium semi-symmetrical Connect it E phono cable, designed for optimal signal transfer.
