B&O PLAY, has launched the BeoPlay A, its first Bluetooth speaker, designed by Cecilie Manz, and offering a set of features the company say are unique.
“BeoPlay A2 is an honest product. It is what it looks like: a functional and likeable speaker you can easily take with you”, says Cecilie Manz, Designer of BeoPlay A2. She continues: “The fact that BeoPlay A2 was designed for a life on the go has influenced every aspect of the speaker in terms of its design. There is no front, there is no back -‐ and there is no up or down, but there’s sound everywhere.”
“BeoPlay A2 is a ground-‐breaking product that will set new industry standards, thanks to the innovative True360 sound and the unprecedented 24 hours of battery life.” Henrik Taudorf Lorensen, Vice President, B&O PLAY
“We have developed a unique Adaptive Power Management that both monitors and anticipates the audio signal in order to save battery life. It makes it possible to feed the exact amount of power needed by the amplifiers – and only when they need it. The result: 24 hours of playback
BeoPlay A2 features True360 omnidirectional sound technology that “lets everyone enjoy equally good sound no matter where they are sit” and features a flat design with a solid aluminium core and a polymer shell designed to withstand the ruggedness of a life on the go.
The loudspeaker features Bluetooth aptX streaming and remembers up to 8 users, and can play from 2 devices at a time and the rechargeable Li-‐ion battery features B&O’s Adaptive Power Management technology that ensures you get up to 24 hours of battery life.
It has two speaker drivers on each side – a ¾-‐inch tweeter and a 3-‐inch full range driver. If you are in front of the speaker, you will get a full range experience from one channel and high frequency from the other – and vice versa when you’re on the opposite side of the speaker. “As BeoPlay A2 is very slim, the midrange and lower frequencies of the full range driver will radiate around the edge and create a full, spacious experience on both sides and on the edges”.
