The new Raidho X2t floorstanding loudspeakers feature Tantalum cones.

RAIDHO X SERIES

The X series at Raidho stands for “eXtreme performance for the price”. Of course, these are not cheap products, by any standard. But there are features in the X series that have trickled down from the more high end ranges. The X2t has almost the same ribbon tweeter that is in the RaidhoTD6 which costs 210,000€. Raidho says that the X2t is a significant step up in comparison to the outgoing X2 model which it replaces.

RAIDHO X2T LOUDSPEAKERS

The Raidho X2t is a pair of compact and elegant floorstanding loudspeakers, with a lot of influence from the High End Munich 2022-launched X1t mini monitors, which we reviewed here. Raidho says that the “X2t does everything the compact X1t does, just on a higher level”. Plus the Raidho X2t has dual woofers with which you get much more bass power and a larger scale to the music.

DUAL BASS DRIVERS

The two 5,25” bass driver units in the new X2t, now have a tantalum coating. Tantalum belongs to a class of metals known as refractory metals, which are defined by their strong resistance to heat and wear. It has a melting point of 2,996°C, the fourth highest of all metals. This makes the membrane much stiffer and harder without adding any weight and thereby raising the breakup modes to 15kHz.

Further upgrades from the X2 to the X2t include better components in the crossover, Nordost internal cabling and a complete retuning of the loudspeaker. Decoupling of the speakers is integrated into the feet. There is no need for spikes, the speakers rest on metal balls.

RAIDHO TWEETER

Raidho’s proprietary, trademark ribbon tweeter is completely designed and built by hand in-house in Denmark. It is a Planar Magnetic Tweeter with foil that is 11 microns thick, which means it has fifty times less mass in comparison to a conventional dome tweeter. This is because the voice coil is in the foil which only weighs 20 milligram. The result is virtually no resonances or distortion, and the breakup point is at an 82 KHz.

The new crossover in the X2t has quality components and point-to-point hardwiring that is all done by hand and Nordost cable is used throughout.
