MADE IN SCOTLAND

The new super partner arrangement will see Tannoy’s Scottish-made loudspeakers available via a much wider UK dealer network in 2023 and beyond, as the near-100-year-old HiFi company develops its roadmap, which includes huge investment into its UK production, plus brand new British-made models from the factory.

David McCaffrey, Global Brand Category Leader for Tannoy added, “I’m thrilled to announce the appointment of Symphony Distribution as our Super Partner in the UK. Daniel Raggett shares the same core values and passion for Tannoy. Daniel has built up a fantastic reputation in the UK and I know Symphony will play a key role into the success and growth of Tannoy HiFi in the UK territory.”

SYMPHONY DISTRIBUTION

Salisbury-based Symphony Distribution is a new British company dedicated to the distribution of Tannoy loudspeakers in the UK. The company is committed to increasing the profile and availability of the Scottish loudspeaker manufacturer and enjoys Tannoy ‘Super Partner’ status.

Daniel Raggett, Director of Symphony Distribution said, “I am absolutely delighted and honoured to be representing Tannoy, a company with such enormous history not only in the HIFI world but in the world itself. The product build quality, from the entry-level Autograph Mini to the show-stopping Tannoy Westminster, is absolutely second to none.”

TANNOY

Established in 1926, Tannoy is the fifth-oldest HiFi company in the world. Based in Hamilton, Scotland, Tannoy was founded as the Tuslemere Manufacturing Company in 1926 by Guy Fountain and by 1928, had changed its name to Tannoy, which was derived from the materials used in the manufacture of its rectifiers: Tantalum/Lead Alloy.

The company’s early products were in the automotive and public address system sectors and later, Tannoy played a huge role in the war effort (World War II) with its public address systems being used for Prime Ministerial speeches, including those by Winston Churchill. Following WWII, the word ‘Tannoy’ was immortalised and added to the English Oxford Dictionary because of its huge significance to the UK and the company’s famous Dual Concentric Driver was invented, a system still used to this day.

Tannoy’s HiFi loudspeaker products are still designed and built in Scotland, almost a century later.

HiFi Pig Says: Things have been pretty quiet on the Tannoy front recently, we are guessing that is about to change.
