HEAD TO THE SOBIESKI HOTEL TO HEAR THE SILENT POUND CHALLENGER LOUDSPEAKERS AT WARSAW 2023
Seen and heard last year as a prototype, this year you can hear the production model Silent Pound Challenger Loudspeakers at the Audio Video Show Warsaw 2023.
We were very impressed with the prototype loudspeaker from the young Lithuanian HiFi brand Silent Pound at last year’s Warsaw HiFi show.
SILENT POUND CHALLENGER LOUDSPEAKERS
The production model arrives with several upgrades. The biggest and most important one is the improved low-frequency range reproduction. Silent Pound tells us the bass is now even faster and more accurate than before. The quicker and more accurate response comes thanks to tweaked drivers, a reconfigured woofer box, and tuned crossover.
Design-wise, they decided to use tempered tinted glass instead of organic glass to cover the filter. This glass finish is designed to look like new and remain scratch-free On the front the high frequency horn is now milled into the front panel seamlessly giving it a more uniform look.
DIRECTIONAL ACOUSTICS
The Silent Pound Challenger is designed to enhance sound quality by directing sound waves toward the listener while trying to radiate as few waves to reflective surfaces as possible thus decreasing interaction between speakers and the room.
“Sound diffusion optimization in an acoustically untreated room was our main goal. To achieve it we employed modern CAD and methods of mathematical modelling. Through careful mathematical analysis, multiple experiments and critical subjective listening sessions we’ve managed to design an acoustic system suitable for various room sizes while maintaining tonal balance, high resolution and spectacular soundstage detail”. LOUDSPEAKER DESIGN
Designed by award-winning industrial designer Moses Kang, the steel cabinet might look monumental from first glance, but it is only 15 cm deep.
Inspired by timepiece makers and their own Discovery open baffle model Silent Pound left part of the system’s back open. Those wishing to sneak a peek at the back of low frequency drivers, designed and made exclusively for Silent Pound, can easily do so by simply removing the safety mesh. The in house designed Crossover is visible through a clear safety glass.
The speakers are available in classical black or white, and a wide array of colours, from Pearl Gentian Blue to Grey Metallic Atlas.
PATENT PENDING MIDRANGE ENCLOSURE AND HORN OPTIMIZATION
To address the mid-range frequency (MF) correction of directivity in the lower part of MF range, Silent Pound created a unique acoustic enclosure, which allowed them to find optimal acoustic balance between MF and LF.
The medium to high frequency range is recreated by a mathematically modelled compact horn of their own original design tuned to match the MF.
