British audio company Mitchell and Johnson has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise £20,000 to help with the launch of its new headphone range featuring Electrostatz technology.HP1 dark

The finance raised via its Kickstarter initiative will be directed specifically at marketing and promoting the new range of headphones, which will be one of the first to benefit from an exclusive agreement with the company behind Electrostatz to bring the technology to consumers across a range of new headphone models. During the first half of 2016 the company will introduce designs aimed at the street or urban users, hi-fi enthusiasts, DJs and professional studio engineers.

The self-biasing electrostatic technology in Electrostatz was originally developed at the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Taiwan’s largest industrial research facility. Further commercial development was rewarded with the highly prized accolade of “Technology Innovation Award Winner” from The Wall Street Journal and it was subsequently patented as Electrostatz Technology.

In 2012 Mitchell and Johnson hit the market from out of nowhere with a range of affordable hi-fi separates. Paul Mitchell’s and business partner David Johnson developed the ‘200 Series’ range of hi-fi separates to meet the demand of the increasingly discerning music lover who wants to be able to enjoy excellent sound quality without the usual high-end price tag. The headphones are set to continue this objective of brining exceptional performance to people at a real world price.

David Johnson says, “We worked hard for c 2 years with the In2uit and Electrostatz teams to develop the sound, they responded with a step up in manufacturing quality and output and the response at the CES show to the headphones has been incredible, with many people saying they cannot believe the quality for the price.” He continues, “We are sure we have a winner on our hands with this incredible technology and look forward to sharing it with music lovers around the world. Raising funds through Kickstarter will help us publicise the products and of course anyone who pledges money to support the campaign will become one of the first owners of these amazing ‘phones.”
