Writing this show report was no small task, given the sheer number of rooms to cover. Similar to my previous reports, I present the report in the order of the rooms to avoid confusion. So, let’s head up to the third and fourth floors and see what caught my ears this time.

TECA 2024 REPORT FROM THE TAIPEI INTERNATIONAL AUDIO SHOW 2024

301: HLJ

HLJ, a Taiwanese HiFi accessory brand specializing in vibration control, first made waves with their Maglev feet—a smart solution in an earthquake-prone region.  This year, they demonstrated their expertise with a setup that optimised gear performance. The PYLON Diamond 28 floorstanding speakers stood on custom anti-vibration stands and M2 magnetic isolation feet, driven by a Yamaha R-N800A all-in-one amplifier. For bookshelf fans, the PYLON Pearl speakers paired with S1 magnetic feet offered a compact yet refined alternative. Electronics rested on the new HLJ SVS-1 audio rack, which blends marble, wood, and high-density damping materials with sleek aluminium pillars and a polished nameplate for both stability and style.

306 / 308 / 310: AUDIO SUPPLY

The first of four rooms hosted by Yingjia showcased a mix of NAD electronics and Wharfedale speakers, blending affordability with performance. The main setup featured NAD’s M66 flagship preamp with Dirac Live room correction and two M23 Purifi-based power amps, driving Wharfedale’s ELYSIAN 4 towers—effortlessly dynamic and refined, thanks to AMT tweeters and high sensitivity. The smaller room highlighted the compact NAD M10 V3 streaming amp with the Wharfedale AURA4 speakers. For a retro vibe, NAD’s C3050 hybrid amp matched perfectly with Wharfedale’s vintage-inspired Super DENTON.

The next room followed the nostalgic turn with modern updates to QUAD’s iconic 33 preamp and 303 power amp, re-engineered for today’s standards. Bridged for mono use, the 303 amps pushed 140W into Wharfedale’s big and bold DOVEDALE bookshelf speakers, featuring Kevlar woofers and a vintage design. The sleek Quad Revela 1 and towering Z4 speakers also made an appearance. For flexibility, the Quad Artera Play offered CD playback and DAC functions in one neat package, and a NAD C588 turntable provided the possibility for vinyl playback.

The next room showcased Luxman’s flagship C-10X preamp, D-10X SACD/CD player, and M-10X stereo power amp, providing their fans with plenty to admire. The recently introduced NT-07 streamer demonstrated Luxman’s modern approach, and the Solitaire S 530 speakers from T+A provided a sophisticated, high-performance combination.

312: TONGYUAN

Another setup I always find myself drawn to is Kharma speakers, especially the compact and practical DB-7S. The smaller system paired the DB-7S with Boulder’s 866 integrated amplifier, making for a clean, three-piece setup that’s as elegant as it is straightforward.

For those chasing the flagship experience, the Enigma Veyron 5D—the smallest in the line—was driven by Boulder’s 1160 power amplifier, 1110 preamp, and 812 DAC. With their striking design and meticulous engineering, these speakers delivered exactly the kind of exquisite performance you’d expect.

314: ADAM AUDIO

Studio monitors made a surprising appearance at this year’s show, and one of the standout examples came from the new distributors of Adam Audio. The German brand has long been respected for its precision and performance, so I was keen to hear their latest release—the active desktop D3V. True to form, it provided an engaging and detailed sound while keeping it compact and not adding bulk to a modern and sleek desktop setup. I also had the chance to listen to the flagship S3V, and its refined yet natural signature left me thinking it’s a speaker I could easily live with.

315: ATC

ATC, the classic British brand, was showcasing its limited-edition SCM20ASL LE monitors, which seem to be making a tour around Asia—this being the third time I’ve crossed paths with them at a show. However, this time, ATC paired them with the C4 SUB MK2, which provided significant low-end reinforcement. Unfortunately, I couldn’t stick around for long, as the demo featured Chinese opera at a volume that left me more on edge than immersed.

316: ILOUD

The iLoud MTM and Mini have established themselves as popular choices among studio professionals, and they recently demonstrated the new MTM MkIIs in a complete Atmos setup. Leveraging the ARC Studio’s calibration features, the system delivered precise imaging and a cohesive soundstage. It’s a seriously compelling and budget-friendly option for anyone looking to bring high-quality Atmos performance into their home.

319: YPL

YPL Audio continues to impress with their remarkable blend of value and performance. Their showroom was a delightful showcase of both affordable and higher-end audio solutions. The centrepiece was their flagship TP-1 turntable, with its sophisticated Clearaudio ceramic-magnet bearings, massive 4.5 kg aluminium platter, and precision-engineered 12-inch carbon fibre tonearm.  The T-5 Pro tube integrated amplifier, delivering a robust 50W per channel with 4 KT88 powertubes, demonstrated YPL’s expertise in vacuum tube technology. For budget-conscious audiophiles, the MP5 MkIV integrated amplifier, now in its fourth generation, offers an impressive array of features, including built-in DAC, Bluetooth connectivity, and even HDMI input, all while delivering a comfortable 30W per channel. Paired with the classic-looking Favorite 402 bookshelf speakers, this combination was offered at an incredibly attractive show special (around €1200). The company’s commitment to accessibility was further exemplified by their popular TP-100 turntable, a clever all-in-one solution with built-in amplification that’s been a bestseller at Eslite bookstores. YPL’s diverse lineup, from the elegant Favorite 600 floor-standing speakers to the compact DA-113 DAC and TP-8 phono preamp, showcases their ability to cater to various audio enthusiasts while maintaining surprisingly approachable price points.

320: LA AUDIO

Room 320 showcased the full lineup from LA Audio, offering something for everyone—from casual listeners to karaoke enthusiasts. They introduced two new bookshelf speakers, the A-F801 and A-F601, with soft-dome tweeters and composite paper-cone woofers, in 8-inch and 6-inch sizes.

For source options, the PRO-2 CD player stood out with added Bluetooth functionality, while the P-2 and P-3 headphone amps provided versatile inputs, including optical, coaxial, and USB, at an affordable price point.

The system playing was the A-F801 driven by the C-88R tube preamp, paired with the excellent P-300 monoblock amplifiers, each packing 12 watts of pure Class A power through iconic 300B tubes—perfect for that lush, romantic tone.

323: MONITOR AUDIO

Monitor Audio showcased their Hyphn speakers, paired with Chord Electronics’ Ultima Pre 2 and Ultima 2 amplifiers. Digital playback came from the Chord Dave DAC and M-Scaler, with the Oracle CD2000 MKIII handling CDs. It was a refined and visually striking setup, blending a bold design with high-end performance.

324: KEF

327: SOUNDFIELD

Rega made a welcome return to the show after a noticeable absence in recent years, and it was wonderful to finally see them in Taiwan. Their room featured the striking AYA floor-standing speakers, which already earned praise from HiFi PiG—just check out Oscar’s review. Built with fibreglass-reinforced concrete cabinets for exceptional rigidity and low resonance, the AYA’s 2.5-way design features custom ZRR tweeters and MX-125 midrange drivers, delivering detailed imaging and rich textures. When paired with the Saturn MK3 CD player, which boasts dual Wolfson DACs, and the Elicit MK5 amplifier, which offers 105W per channel with built-in DAC and phono stages, the system left a lasting impression with its clarity and musicality.

The incredibly popular Rega turntables were represented by a solitary P2 on a static display, which I think was a missed opportunity. Meanwhile, a secondary setup combined Leak Sandwich (brrr… what a bizarre sandwich that would be) 150 speakers with the Stereo 130 amp for a vintage-inspired alternative.

Also worth noting, Argon Audio—a very affordable German brand under Peter Lyngdorf’s umbrella—made its Taiwan debut. I hope they find their footing in the market.

331: SONANCE

The folks at Sonance brought an eclectic and exciting mix of brands, including some newcomers and rarities for the Taiwan market like Roksan, Xavian, Listen & Co., and Zu Audio. The highlight for me was the quiet debut of the Roksan Caspian 4G Streaming Amplifier—a sleek, all-in-one powerhouse combining BluOS multi-room streaming, Euphoria dual-amplification, and the cutting-edge Rapture DAC. Paired with the beautifully crafted Xavian Perla Exclusiva and Stella speakers, but sadly they weren’t playing during my visit.

Roksan’s lineup also included the Attessa and K3 series, alongside their turntable and CD player, ensuring options for both traditional and modern audiophiles. On the American side, Zu Audio’s Soul Superfly brought high-efficiency fun, while vintage enthusiasts were treated to Rogers’ LS 3/5A monitors paired with AB3a active subwoofers, proving classic designs still have plenty to offer. Driving these was the Listen & Co. LC-IPA60 tube amplifier—an unfamiliar name to me but one that left a strong impression with its build quality and refined sound.

Whether it was streaming-ready amps, vintage classics, or modern high-efficiency designs, Sonance’s room packed variety and plenty of surprises for every type of listener.

332 GD AUDIO

GD Audio highlighted KEF’s new Q Concerto Meta and Q11 Meta speakers paired with Cambridge Audio’s EXN100 network streaming DAC and EXA100 integrated amplifier—a clean, well-balanced setup with excellent sound.

The second room felt a bit confusing; with KEF R3 speakers driven by the Cambridge Edge A and NQ streamer, they presented a flagship setup, yet music was actually playing from the EVO ONE all-in-one system. Stylish, but a little puzzling in presentation.

ROOM 335: JL AUDIO

JL Audio showcased a versatile lineup featuring Amphion Argon 7LS speakers and Vienna Acoustics Mozart floorstanders. However, the real highlights of the room were the JL Audio subwoofers, a recent addition to the distributor’s portfolio. The compact E110 Gloss, with a 10-inch driver and 750W amplifier, paired beautifully with the Amphion setup, while the larger E112, packing a 12-inch driver and 1500W of power, complemented the Mozarts with ease. The monstrous F212v2, boasting dual 12-inch drivers, 3600W of output, and a hefty 93 kg weight, is the perfect choice for bass enthusiasts seeking even more low-end authority.

339: LUKANG

Lugang Audio didn’t hold back, rolling out their biggest guns—the Spoey 230FS floorstanders. These beauties feature Danish drivers and a sleek, imposing design.

Driving the show was Keces’ S4 preamp and dual S300+ stereo amps in mono mode—no surprise these made HiFi PiG’s Product of the Year list. Front-end duties went to Metronome’s DSS 2 streamer, LE Player CD transport, and DAC, all kept in perfect sync with the newly released Mutec clock generator.

To keep things clean, Kojo Crystal E grounding boxes and COS S10 network switches stepped in, removing noise and allowing the music to flow freely. The system not only sounds fantastic, but it also exudes sophistication.

340: GOLDMUND

Swiss precision took centre stage with Goldmund’s Tethys speakers—a compact design echoing their flagship models—driven by the Mimesis Excellence preamp and Telos 800 stereo power amp. The electronics boasted dual-mono architecture, massive power supplies, and Aqua Acoustics Formula DAC functionality up to DSD512. Streaming duties fell to the ARCAM ST60.

Adding variety, there was also a setup featuring classic Rogers speakers driven by the locally made Descarts integrated amplifier, delivering a warm, intimate sound. For a more dynamic approach, Vienna Acoustics Mozart speakers paired with the Orpheus Lab Absolute integrated amp brought plenty of muscle and finesse, rounding out a room packed with options for different tastes and styles.

341: OMNIVERSE

Omniverse made a bold debut with two rooms packed with custom speakers, amps, and stands—all proudly designed and built in Taiwan using solid hardwood cabinets. The first room featured AMT tweeter speakers in sealed cabinets, paired with in-house DACs and Bluetooth amps, combining modern tech with rich, handcrafted wood finishes.

The second room shifted focus to coaxial drivers in bass-reflex designs, powered by the Omni 1200 integrated amp—a 1200W powerhouse with dual power supplies and elegant hardwood options like Brazilian cherry and maple. Stylish, ambitious, and built to last, Omniverse proved they’re here to make noise—both sonically and in the industry. Oh, and the speaker designer is also an artist; those paintings are also his work!

343: COS (YG AND AESTHETIX)

COS presented the YG Vantage 3 speakers (priced at 1.82M TWD) driven by Aesthetix Atlas-Eclipse monoblocks, offering detailed and refined sound. They also showcased the COS D10 V2 preamp/DAC and S10 network switch, the latter proving particularly popular around the show for improving streaming quality. YG Acoustics are always impressive.

345: DACHEE (GOLDENEAR, YG, ECLIPSE)

daChee combined multiple speaker setups, featuring GoldenEar bookshelf speakers, YG Peak Tor, and Eclipse TD508 MK4 full-range speakers in rotation. Low-end reinforcement came from REL subwoofers stacked in pairs per channel for seamless bass integration. Electronics included the Aesthetix Pandora DAC and Mimas integrated amp, combining tube preamps with solid-state power. Digital sources were handled by the HzProject HzCore Roon Core, emphasising modern connectivity and high-resolution playback.

353: MPS

MPS packed their room with cables, connectors, and accessories under their MPSOURCE and MPS brands. The highlight was the Golden Dragon series of cables featuring phase optimisation and resonance tuning—designed to instantly enhance sound quality.

402: HECO, MAGNAT, OEHLBACH

Sony’s room was a mix of cutting-edge TVs and classic HiFi vibes. Stealing the spotlight was Magnat’s retro-cool setup—the MA700 tube-hybrid amp pushing 250W into the bold Transpuls 1000 horn speakers. Dubbed the “hipster’s dream rig,” it even included a complimentary WiiM Mini streamer to complete the package. Over in the corner, HECO’s Victa Elite 702 paired with the sleek MTT990 turntable and MA900 amp provided a conservative option.

403: JADEX AUDIO

Jadex delivered a standout dual-system showcase, blending British and German precision. The main setup starred the sleek Cyrus 40 Series electronics—40PSU, 40AMP, 40CD, and 40ST streamer—driving the Spendor D7.2 floorstanders with effortless balance and natural tones. Power was kept in check with Inakustik AC-4500 conditioning and Entreq grounding boxes, ensuring signal purity. The D7.2s definitely earned a spot on my shortlist.

The second system embraced minimalism with PMC Twenty5 23i active speakers fed by the versatile AVM CS5.3 streaming amp (in source duty)—compact, clean, and seriously capable.

406: DONG-YI (AUDIOPHYSIC, CARY AUDIO)

Sometimes you just need to take a breather from the chaos of an audio show—and that’s exactly what I did in Dong Yi’s room. It wasn’t planned, but when you’re greeted by the Audio Physic Codex speakers, powered by Cary Audio’s CAD-211FE tube monoblocks and the SLP-05 triode preamp, resistance is futile. The DMS-800 streamer provided the tunes, and what a playlist it was—engaging, dynamic, and downright addictive.

The Codex speakers, sitting comfortably in Audio Physic’s reference range, didn’t just play music; they invited me to sit back, relax, and stay awhile. Cary Audio’s 70W Class-A power, paired with the natural transparency of the Codex, created a sound so rich and effortless that I forgot about deadlines, photos, and the show schedule. I spent nearly an hour here, simply soaking in the music—proof that great gear doesn’t just impress your ears; it steals your time, too.

412: SEAPOWER

Seapower delivered a feast for tube lovers with a system that blended Italian craftsmanship and analogue warmth. At the heart of the setup were Synthesis ROMA 510AC tube amplifiers pushing 80W per channel with KT88 tubes—rich, dynamic, and effortlessly musical. Supporting the performance was the ROMA 14DC CD player and ROMA 17DC preamplifier, rounding out a source chain designed for high-resolution detail and smooth delivery. Power was kept pristine by a Furman Elite 15 PF1 conditioner, and the whole setup rested stylishly on a Norstone stand—because great sound deserves great presentation. The stars of the show, Audel’s handcrafted birchwood speakers, were as stunning to look at as they were to listen to—warm, detailed, and full-bodied. I mostly listened to the flagship Symphonika floorstander.

For those on a budget, they had a second room with a playground of affordable gear. Bluesound streamers, amps, and soundbars; Sunfire subwoofers; Myryad electronics; and Elipson speakers. Whether you’re upgrading a living room system or building a streaming setup, this room proved great sound doesn’t need to drain your wallet.

415: DALI

DALI’s Rubikore 6 speakers paired with the PrimaLuna EVO 400 tube amplifier—eight KT170 tubes flexing their muscles for a lush and engaging sound. The system’s backbone was equally impressive, featuring Innuos Zenith as the Roon core, Bricasti M1 DAC, and NAD M23/M33 pre-power amps—all mounted on Artesania Audio racks with Audite shelves for resonance control. Clean power was a priority, managed by KECES IQRP3600, EA Hybrid battery supplies, and Telos QNR active grounding units.

418: PATHOS

A compact yet refined setup featuring Raidho X1.6 speakers paired with the Pathos Kartos integrated amplifier. Silent Angel provided streaming support with the Bonn network switch, Genesis streamer, and Forester power supply, ensuring clean signal delivery.

The system was neatly arranged on SolidSteel racks, known for their sturdy construction, while Sonitus acoustic treatments lined the walls to optimise the room’s acoustics. Despite the small space, the room was packed with high-quality gear, making it a solid stop for those exploring premium compact systems.

419: FIIO, KANTO

Fiio and Kanto put together a slick and practical demo room, showcasing the full lineup of Kanto speakers. With the ability to switch between models via remote, it was a highly professional and interactive experience—perfect for anyone trying to pick the right fit for their space.

Fiio’s head-fi section featured the R9 all-in-one streamer/DAC/amplifier as the centrepiece, paired with the DM13 CD transport—a compact yet impressive unit—and the ZMF headphones, delivering premium sound for personal listening.

For vinyl lovers, Fiio also set up their TT13 turntable, matched with the tiny Kanto Yu2 speakers, proving that great sound can come in small packages. Whether exploring high-end personal audio or desktop setups, this room had something for everyone.

420: TUNESHOP

TuneShop brought an eclectic mix of gear to the show, blending old-world charm with cutting-edge tech. As the new distributors for Audio Hungary, they wowed with a lineup of handcrafted tube amplifiers that oozed refinement and character. On the modern side, Nubert’s X8500, XI2000, and XS4000 home cinema setups flexed their muscles, while Eversolo’s DMP-A10 streamer and Laiv Harmony DAC catered to digital perfectionists.

421 SME

This room, a sanctuary for vinyl enthusiasts, exuded analogue perfection, devoid of any noise and filled with pure admiration. The centrepiece was the SME Synergy MKII turntable system, a seamless collaboration with Ortofon, Nagra, and Crystal Cable, featuring a built-in phono stage, titanium MC Windfeld cartridge, and Crystal signal cables. For those seeking a more affordable entry point, the SME Model 6 Classic impressed with its meticulous craftsmanship. With vinyl preservation in mind, they also included the Loricraft PRC 6i and Nitty Gritty record cleaners, ensuring this room honoured both playing and protecting cherished records.

423: KLH

KLH’s 1960s acoustic suspension classics were faithfully revived by the stunning Model 3 and Model 5 speakers. The Model 5, a 3-way design, and the Model 3, a compact 2-way, blended vintage aesthetics with modern drivers and crossovers, proving that timeless design can still shine today. Powered by Marantz’s Model 30 integrated amplifier and a Denon DCD1500RE CD player, the setup delivered rich, balanced sound that honoured KLH’s legendary roots.

For those craving extra low-end punch, Velodyne’s subwoofer lineup stepped in with authority—from the flagship VI-Q and powerful Deep Blue 15 to the compact yet capable Impact-X 12 and Microvee X—ensuring deep, room-shaking bass for every taste and setup.

427: PD

The humble “Perfect Design, Perfect Sound” is a local boutique speaker designer, a new entry to the scene, and they come with a bang. On one side, their compact bookshelf speakers charmed listeners with a smooth, detailed sound that felt right at home in the intimate space. On the other room, they unleashed what might be the largest speaker at the show—a towering beast with dual 18-inch woofers and horn-loaded mids and highs that felt hilariously oversized for the room. They used a collection of vintage gear to drive the speakers.

430: PHASEMATION, FISCHER & FISCHER

Serious high-end vibes in this tiny room. Fischer & Fischer SN470M speakers with their unique slate cabinets paired beautifully with Phasemation’s first integrated amp—a stunning single-ended, pure Class A design featuring 300B tubes and a sweet 9W/4 ohm output. The source? The precision-crafted Yuki AP-01 turntable, which I was lucky to hear in a few setups. Completing the chain were Phasemation’s PP2000 cartridge and the EA-1200 phono stage with fully independent left and right channels—an analogue lover’s dream rig.

431: TIEN AUDIO

Mr Tien’s room wins my award for the most stylish setup at the show—the “fireplace” detail was an especially classy touch. It was a perfect blend of Vitavox vintage charm and modern flair.

Marking their 10th anniversary, Tien debuted the 10th Anniversary turntable—a stunner that merges traditional elegance with TT-series tech. Paired with their highly regarded Viroa Titan tonearm and an Aidas cartridge, driven by the PrimaLuna Evo 100 tube phonostage, it delivered a rich, captivating performance that left visitors thoroughly impressed.

432: MO AUDIO

MO Audio returned with their signature lineup, including the MK10 flagship 3-way speakers, MK300 active crossover amp, MK9038 Pro preamp/DAC, and MK-CD1 CD player—a proven setup that impressed once again.

435: ARRIBA

Arriba’s room brought serious tube-powered charm. The spotlight was on their A-3150 tube preamp and A-6135 KT88 tube power amp, paired with the in-house VIB speakers. They also showcased the A-7008 EL34 integrated amp—a more compact, entry-level option with Bluetooth streaming for modern convenience paired with the Castle Knight 2 bookshelf.

Backing it all up was the newly released T-1801 isolation transformer, boasting premium Z6 iron cores and delivering clean, stable power to keep everything running silky smooth. With their own factory for transformers, Arriba’s vertically integrated approach clearly paid off in performance and build quality.

436: FOCAL NAIM

Focal Diva Utopia—style and substance in one sleek package. A fully integrated setup combined stunning looks with breathtaking sound. Nothing much to add.

440: EMOTIVA

Emotiva brought the cinema to the room with a 7.2.4 home theatre setup featuring their XPA-7 Gen3 and XPA-5 Gen3 amplifiers, XMC-2 processor, and Airmotiv speakers. With thunderous bass, accurate surround effects, and plenty of power on tap, this was the place for home theatre enthusiasts craving cinematic immersion.

449: SOUNDRAY

Soundray delivered pure high-end luxury. Marten’s Mingus Septet speakers, paired with the mighty German ASR Luna 8 HV amplifier, delivered dense, silky, and utterly captivating sound—an audiophile’s dream. MSB’s Cascade 3-piece DAC brought cutting-edge digital precision, while Finnish Konto acoustic panels ensured the room sounded as good as it looked.

Marten’s Oscar Trio speakers were paired with Norma’s Revo IPA-140 integrated amp and DS-2 CD player to create a more approachable setup that delivered refined performance in a sleek package. This was one of the setups that I could just take home as is.

The static display of the Marten Coltrane Quintet hinted at what ultimate performance looks like, making this room a must-see for both dreamers and serious buyers.

450: BRODMANN, OCTAVE

The room displayed elegance and refinement with Vienna’s Brodmann speakers—crafted with the precision of concert pianos. The outer room featured the Brodmann JB 175 floorstanders, driven by an OCTAVE HP 700 SE tube preamp and PASS XA200.8 Class A monoblocks, fronted by the imposing Wadax Studio. This setup oozed musicality and rich tonal textures.

Inside, the Brodmann F2 speakers took the stage, paired with a JEFF ROWLAND Capri preamp, OCTAVE MRE 220 tube monoblocks, and digital sources from LUMIN U2 and CHORD DAVE DAC with M-Scaler and a dCS Puccini CD/SACD player.

453: AUDIO TECHNICA

Audio-Technica brought a creative and well-organised setup, splitting their space into two areas with clever sound-isolation partitions for focused listening. The main attraction was the ATH-ADX3000 open-back headphones, showcased with two demo systems—digital and analogue. The digital setup ran through the DAC/amp combo, while the analogue side paired the AT-LP2022 transparent acrylic turntable and AT-PEQ30 phono stage, also to the AT-HA5050H headphone amp.

In the smaller room, the ultra-exclusive NARUKAMI system stole the spotlight. Featuring the AW-KG NARU headphones and HPA-KG NARU tube amp crafted from rare black persimmon wood, this masterpiece felt more like an art installation than an audio setup. With pricing in the luxury car range and limited availability, it drew quite the crowd. Having previously experienced it, I bypassed the queue this time, but based on the buzz, it remained the main attraction.

456: SONUS FABER

This room was an amplifier galore, packed with models from McIntosh, Marantz, Denon, Accuphase, and Parasound. Adding a modern twist, HiFiRose’s RD160 DAC and RS150B and RS130 streamers were also on display. Whether you’re crafting a refined two-channel setup or diving into multi-channel home theatre, this room covered all bases. The elegant Sonus Faber Sonetto V G2 speakers were ready to play with anything.
