TREEHAUS AUDIOLAB LCR PHONO PHONO PREAMPLIFIER MAKES DEBUT AT AXPONA 2025
Treehaus Audiolab is launching its new LCR Phono Phono Preamplifier at AXPONA 2025, expanding its line-up of vacuum-tube-based audio equipment.
The Treehaus Audiolab LCR Phono focuses on high-fidelity vinyl playback through a passive LCR (Inductor-Capacitor-Resistor) equalisation network, offering analogue enthusiasts a distinctive approach to phono stage design.
PASSIVE EQUALISATION FOR VINYL PURISTS
At the core of the Treehaus Audiolab LCR Phono is a passive RIAA equalisation circuit, utilising high-grade inductors, capacitors, and resistors. Only the inductors — made with Finemet cores and hand-coated with Urushi lacquer — are placed directly in the signal path, helping to reduce component interference and preserve signal purity. The passive design approach, though more complex, is chosen for its sonic transparency and natural tonal character.
VACUUM TUBE AMPLIFICATION WITH LOW NOISE
Signal amplification is handled by 7308 twin-triode vacuum tubes in the first gain stage, selected for their low noise and resistance to microphonics. A 12AT7 tube provides further gain in the second stage. The power supply — housed in a separate chassis — uses a tube-rectified CLCLC circuit with a Finemet choke and high voltage shunt regulators for each channel. DC-heated filaments contribute to a clean, stable power delivery.
FLEXIBLE CARTRIDGE SUPPORT AND USER FEATURES
With 46dB of gain, the Treehaus Audiolab LCR Phono is well suited for moving magnet (MM) cartridges or moving coil (MC) cartridges when paired with a suitable step-up transformer, such as the company’s own MC SUT. Two inputs offer variable cartridge loading for system matching, and a front-panel mute/stereo/mono switch adds user convenience.
TREEHAUS AUDIOLAB LCR PHONO DESIGN AND PRICING
The LCR Phono is available in two industrial design aesthetics: the Japanese- and mid-century-inspired Kinsuido style, and A/Machines, which nods to vintage Western Electric and Klangfilm equipment. Custom finishes are available on request. The preamplifier is priced at $24,000, including the vacuum tubes.
