TOTALDAC D1-CD CD TRANSPORT LAUNCHING AT HIGH END MUNICH 2025
The Totaldac d1-CD CD Transport has been designed as an absolute reference in digital source, feeding a Totaldac DAC or any other DAC.
The Totaldac d1-CD CD Transport will make its debut at High End Munich 2025, next month.
TOTALDAC D1-CD CD TRANSPORT
Totaldac has unveiled the d1-CD CD Transport, built around the Austrian-made CD-PRO8 mechanism. This precision component is at the heart of the transport and reflects the design philosophy behind Totaldac’s DACs, reclockers, and streamers.
ADVANCED CLOCKING TECHNOLOGY IN TOTALDAC D1-CD CD TRANSPORT
At the core of the Totaldac d1-CD CD Transport is an ultra-low-jitter oscillator, rated at just 40 femtoseconds RMS. This clock contributes significantly to the unit’s sound and the clock signal distribution and SPDIF generation are carefully implemented to minimise timing errors and preserve signal integrity.
DEDICATED EXTERNAL POWER SUPPLY FOR REDUCED NOISE
The d1-CD is powered by an external “live-power” supply designed for optimal galvanic isolation. This setup eliminates mains-related noise artefacts, which can be observed in the noise spectrum when used with a DAC. The external placement also ensures that no mechanical or electromagnetic interference affects the CD mechanism or digital signal components.
TOTALDAC D1-CD CD TRANSPORT USES COPPER PLATE DAMPING SYSTEM
To combat vibration and mechanical noise, the Totaldac d1-CD CD Transport employs a solid copper plate as its mechanical ground reference. This plate is suspended from the CD playback mechanism using a combination of springs and silicone rubber dampers. In addition, three anti-vibration feet with integrated ball bearings provide further isolation from rack-borne vibrations.
MATERIALS AND DAMPING TREATMENTS
A carbon intermediate plate and ferrite rubber-damped cover add extra layers of mechanical damping, helping to maintain focus and clarity in digital playback. These construction techniques are intended to preserve signal purity and reduce microphonic effects from mechanical interference.
DIGITAL OUTPUT OPTIONS ON THE TOTALDAC D1-CD CD TRANSPORT
The d1-CD offers two digital output formats: RCA coaxial and XLR AES-EBU. These provide high-quality connections for integration into a wide range of digital audio systems.
