Bluesound, a leading manufacturer of wireless multi-room music systems, proudly announced today that its award-winning line of wireless speakers and digital music players have been designated as hi-resolution audio (HRA) products by the Japan Audio Society (JAS). Since its debut at CES 2012 as the world’s first wireless multi-room music system to fully support high-resolution audio, Bluesound has been responsible for many innovations in multi-room lossless streaming, and the company continues to stay committed to the development of hi-res audio.
“We are very honored to be recognized by the Japan Audio Society as one of the trailblazers for hi-res audio in the wireless multi-room streaming category,” said John Banks, Bluesound Chief Brand Officer. “Bluesound takes an end-to-end approach to acoustic design, eliminating weak links in the audio chain. Every component in the signal path reaches the stringent standards required to achieve the rigorous demands of high-resolution audio, creating the truest possible sound reproduction in the home.”
In 2014, the Consumer Technology Association and the Digital Entertainment Group and The Recording Academy®, in partnership with the three major music labels, announced that high-resolution audio is defined as “lossless audio that is capable of reproducing the full range of sound from recordings that have been mastered from better than CD quality music sources.” In addition, hi-res audio file formats include FLAC, ALAC, WAV and AIFF, and typically use a higher sampling rate than CDs (16-bit/44.1kHz) of 96kHz or 192kHz at 24-bit.
“We are pleased to license the Hi-Res Audio (HRA) logo developed and administrated by Japan Audio Society (JAS) to Bluesound,” said Ryoji Menjo, Chairman of JAS. “We, at JAS, are acting to advance hi-res audio together with JAS member companies. It is a very important milestone to honor Bluesound with the coveted HRA logo, as one of the only wireless multi-room music systems to support lossless streaming in the home.”
