Clearaudio’s Concept plug-and-play turntable is released as a new Concept Active version which features an integrated headphone amplifier so that the turntable and a pair of headphones are all you need to start playing your vinyl.

The Concept Active also has a built-in phonostage and preamplifier with its own volume control, so the whole package can be connected directly to a power amplifier, or any integrated amplifier, or even direct to a pair of active loudspeakers.

Three Layer Construction

The turntable has a three-layer resonance-optimised ‘sandwich’ construction of a non-fingerprint black acrylic top plate, bonded to a one-piece MDF core with cut-outs for the electronics, motor and bearing with the outer edge finished in silver or black lacquer, plus a bottom plate in lacquered MDF.  The ‘Wood’ version is one-piece multilayer birch plywood rather than MDF.

Concept Tonearm

The Concept Active package includes Clearaudio’s Concept tonearm, featuring magnetic bearings. Customers have the option to top this off with either Clearaudio’s Concept V2 MM or Concept MC cartridge.

Clearaudio Smart Power 12V

Clearaudio has also released the Smart Power 12V, a battery-based DC power supply upgrade designed for the brand’s own Concept and Performance DC turntables.

The Smart Power 12V partners intelligent circuit technology with long-lasting NiMH (nickel-metal hydride) rechargeable batteries to deliver 12V of clean power that is independent of the variability and inherent noise of the mains supply. The unit can be set to switch automatically from battery play mode into recharging mode.

When used with the Concept Active turntable, the Smart Power 12V’s benefits are multiplied, since both the turntable’s motor and the on-board phonostage are fed with clean DC power. Its design includes a dimmable LCD display.
