Following on from the launch earlier this week of their 1723 subwoofers, Norweigian brand, Arendal Sound are launching the 1961 series of loudspeakers.

Arendal has trickled down as much of the1723 technology as possible into the 1961 series.

Waveguide Technology

All Arendal Sound speakers are built around our Arendal Sound’s waveguide technology, the 1961 series offers a new customized waveguide. It’s not a horn, it’s a waveguide with a sleek design. They say that “the waveguide delivers the best possible experience not only at your sweet spot but at the surrounding seating positions as well”. Arendal has designed a new matching 28mm tweeter based on the 1723 tweeter.

Arendal Sound 1961 Series

There is a new customized 5.5″ woofer, the 1961 Tower has quad 5.5″ woofers. The compact 1961 Bookshelf can be used for small compact stereo setups, or in multiple configurations for home theatre. For the first time, there is a new 1961 Height speaker. You can place it on top of the 1961 Tower, mount it on-ceiling or on-wall.

There are two subwoofers, that incorporate a completely new amplifier platform called Avalanche 550IQ, built around a 12.2″ driver. 1961 Subwoofer 1S sealed enclosure smaller cabinet subwoofer and 1961 Subwoofer 1V, a vented enclosure subwoofer.

Others in the range are the 1961 Monitor with dual 5.5″ woofers and waveguide tweeter, sealed design. The 1961 Center, which is basically identical to the Monitor, just a different layout. Finally the 1961 Surround TriAxial design.
