On July 1, 2020, Seattle-based artist and Blue Helix frontman Sami Chohfi released “Dirty Your Soul,” his latest single from his debut solo LP out in September, with a video premiere on Vents Magazine.

Dirty Your Soul’ is a Beatles-esque ode to childlike wonder cutting through the distractions of adulthood,” Vents’ RJ Frometa writes. “Chohfi’s songwriting has the unmistakable cross of a rock upbringing spun with influences picked up while traveling the world.”

Filmed in India ahead of COVID-19, “Dirty Your Soul” is a snapshot of the country’s everyday beauty with an unintentional bittersweetness as the pandemic continues putting an indefinite hold on travel. Chohfi’s debut, Extraordinary World, similarly takes inspiration from two years of travel across Brazil, Cambodia, France, India, Kenya, and The Philippines.

“With every song being born in a different part of the planet, the one thing I can tell you is we are not as different as we think,” Chohfi adds in a recent press release. “I am constantly reminded how all people just want to fit in, be loved, and be understood. This album is a culmination of the last two years of my life and the beautiful interactions with people I have treasured.”

While singer/songwriter Sami Chohfi is based in Seattle, he is undeniably a modern citizen of the world.

His upcoming solo debut, Extraordinary World, was written across six countries over the last two years. From his journeys across the globe, as a brand ambassador for the clothing line Be Good to People®, to tours with his band Blue Helix across his family’s native country of Brazil, Chohfi’s songwriting has the unmistakable cross of a rock upbringing spun with influences picked up while traveling the world.

Blending alternative rock with acoustic songwriting, Extraordinary World showcases Chohfi’s ability to inspire his listeners by transporting them into the majestic scenes he’s witnessed over the past few years, whether in Brazil, Cambodia, France, India, Kenya or The Philippines.

Inspired by a visit to Lisbon and accompanied by a gorgeous video shot in India, “Dirty Your Soul” is a “Beatles-esque ode to childlike wonder cutting through the distractions of adulthood,” according to Vents Magazine. “Soul” is an apt kickoff for Extraordinary World, which was inspired by Chohfi’s travels over the last two years. Aside from the vicarious images and sounds of traveling in a pre-corona world, Extraordinary World serves as a timely reminder that, in Chohfi’s words, “all people just want to fit in, be loved, and be understood.”

“Dirty Your Soul” is out now on all digital platforms.
Extraordinary World is out on September 4th.
