Acoustic Energy have announced the launch of the AE308, an all-new active subwoofer, featuring DSP modes.
Designed to complement and integrate with the AE300 stand-mounts, AE309 floor-standers and AE307 Centre speaker, the AE308 uses a new 500 Watt (RMS) amplifier mated to a 12” long-excursion doped and stiffened pulp-fibre driver, the AE308 also features a brand new DSP module which gives greater control over the performance.
New DSP Module
The new DSP module also offers greater versatility to tailor performance perfectly to the desired music stereo or movie multi-channel audio track, a first for AE. In Music mode the AE308 will extend low frequencies of the main speakers down to 26Hz (+/-6dB). In Movie mode there will be additional “slam” on offer to aid explosive movie soundtracks in AV systems. Finally, Impact mode is more akin to a club set-up.
Acoustic Energy 300 Series Loudspeakers
“Rather than just launch a sub to complement our already successful 300 Series, we wanted to design a sub with substance! and one which could hold its own in any system as well as do justice to the rest of the 300 Series speakers. This sub has been long awaited from our dealers and distributors around the globe and now it’s available, it’s been well worth the wait” says Acoustic Energy MD, Mat Spandl.
Real Walnut Veneer
The AE308 is available in real wood walnut veneer, piano gloss black or white lacquer to match the other 300 Series models and has carpet-piercing spikes which come with rubber caps for use on hard flooring.
