BABBIT KID FRIENDLY STREAMING SPEAKER DESIGNED TO GIVE CHILDREN SCREEN-FREE ACCESS TO A WIDE RANGE OF MUSIC

The Babbit device is a family-friendly ‘premium class’ speaker that combines high-fidelity sound and a kid-friendly design.

Babbit is designed to enable a screen-free listening experience for family members of all ages. The makers say that its intuitive design allows kids as young as toddlers to make musical choices without parental presence and enjoy HiFi sound quality. Is it a way of encouraging budding young audiophiles without risking the main HiFi?

Launched in the EU in 2020 and made in Latvia, Babbit’s speaker has recently been adapted to North American market regulations for electronic devices and is now also available to US and Canadian customers.

KIDS AND MUSIC

The idea behind Babbit was inspired by the brand co-founders’ children and their interest in music. The family soon realized that their kids could play a song on repeat almost endlessly if given such an option and that the formation of children’s musical taste largely depended on their access to diverse, high-quality music.

Aleksandrs Roga, CEO and co-founder of Babbit. Told us.“The young generation’s music taste nowadays is often limited to viral hits available on social media platforms. And needless to say – it’s not always the best quality music. Thus, we wanted to create a family-friendly HiFi speaker, which would both provide audiophile sound quality and enable an independent listening experience to help children discover music beyond “Baby Shark” and other mainstream hits,”

NFC CARDS

The speaker provides a whole range of connectivity options. It plays music via Spotify, online streams, USB and can be controlled by a series of NFC (near-field communication) enabled cards that are connected with Spotify playlists and are played when placed on top of the device. An interesting interaction for children, Babbit also offers an expert-curated set of themed playlists attached to colourful design cards via the NFC stickers for listeners with kids. The children’s playlists are grouped in different styles and moods, covering diverse music from all over the world and expanding their listening experience.

BURR BROWN DAC

Babbit features a stereo closed-loop Class-D amplifier and a high-performance DAC with Burr Brown audio technology. The device is made of sturdy wood and has two 6.5 inch full-range tweeter speakers integrated into a wooden body and covered with metallic grills to ensure that little fingers don’t damage them.
