Meridian Audio announces that its co-founder, Bob Stuart, is to receive the CEDIA 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award. First awarded by CEDIA (Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association) in 1992, previous recipients include some of the electronics industry’s most brilliant entrepreneurs, inventors, engineers, and leaders.Bob Stuart and MQA at Munich 2015

A graduate of Imperial College London, Bob’s passion for music led him to specialise in audio design. Soon after graduation Bob met Allen Boothroyd and the duo’s first collaboration was on the Lecson hi-fi system, a design so innovative that it’s now part of the permanent collections at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and London’s Victoria & Albert Museum.

Bob and Allen founded Meridian Audio in 1977 and that same year heralded the arrival of the M1, the Cambridgeshire-based company’s first product. An active loudspeaker system – unknown in consumer electronics at the time – the M1 provided the foundation for much that has come later.

Meridian is now an international brand sold by a network of international dealers and distributors. A winner of over 300 industry awards and accolades Meridian has also been successful in the automotive sector enjoying a relationship with McLaren and Jaguar Land Rover for whom it is the sole audio brand partner. Bob also developed Meridian Lossless Packing, the technology at the heart of DVD-Audio, and part of the Blu-Ray Disc specification.

Over 40 years on from the award-winning and somewhat iconic Lecson, Bob refuses to slow down, and continues to innovate. His latest music technology, MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) embraces the digital worlds of downloads and streaming, aiming to change the way we all hear music. Going back to the original master recording, MQA captures the full, intricate detail of a live performance, and the technology has already received support from the music industry, artists, recording and mastering engineers and record labels.

Bob Stuart will receive his Lifetime Achievement Award at CEDIA EXPO 2015, to be held in Dallas, Texas October 14-17. Please join us in congratulating Bob on this terrific honour.
