The High End Society does a really cool thing at the show and give a free exhibition stand to a select few, carefully chosen, new Hifi brands. This year there were six Newcomers, all of whom were very excited about being at the show. We always make a beeline for the Newcomers stand and do a feature on them each year, we have seen several brands that started here go on to grow and exhibit in their own right at later shows, brands like PureAudioProject, Wesminster Labs and B.audio, to name just a few.

Saturday afternoon was time to pop over to the Marriott for the Hifi Deluxe Show. This runs in the afternoons/evenings on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the same time as the High End Show. With the difficulty in getting rooms at the MOC it is inevitable that a sideshow happens and you do find some interesting brands over here. There is also a shuttle bus between the two shows making it easy to get over there. Here we cover La Rosita, Knif Rauman, Viva Audio, Jeff Rowland, Fyne Audio, Cary Audio, Audio Exklusiv, Lumiks and Audio Signal Projects, Rohm,  Rike Audio, Martion and Tonmechanik Berlin, Holton Audio, Camerton Audio, Q-Tron Audio and Horn-Kultur, SottoVoce, SeaWave Acoustics, Fein Audio, AGD Productions and Extreme Audio, 432 Evo, Malvalve and MrSpeakers, Grandinote, SoundKaos and Bakoon, Aretai, Klimo and Brodmann, Totaldac and AudionoteUK. Saturday saw me flying solo at the High End Munich 2019 Hifi Show. As an intrepid Hifi Journalist, I grabbed my camera and made my way up to the top floor of the show, 4.2, to pick up from where we had left off the previous day. This top floor is always one of the best areas of the show, the brands often keep the same room year on year, so it’s easy to orientate yourself and see everything. The same brands, however, doesn’t mean the same gear every year…I was treated to some stunning rooms and some fab surprises.  There is also a strong French contingent up there so it was nice to have a break from my limited German language skills and ‘parlé Francaise’ a little. Welcome to the first of my reports from this year’s High End Munich show which took place from 9th to 12th of May at the brilliant MOC venue in Munich and featuring: TAD (Technical Audio Devices) Laboratories, Kii Audio, Technics, Octave, ATC, GATO and Emotiva, Audio Reference, Dan D’agostino, Absolute Sounds, Canton, DALI, AVM, Primare and inakustik, Accuton and Bugatti, JoSound and Axjets, Crystal Cables and Siltech, Vitus Audio, THRAX, Raidho/Scansonic, Joseph Audio and Alluxity and Weiss & PSI Audio.

Munich High End is always a packed event and this year was no exception with a great mix of industry people and music lovers alike. Whether you are a fan of streaming audio, vinyl, tubes/valves, solid state, full range speakers, horn loudspeakers…or even sports cars, there is going to be lots for you to see and hear at High End and we hope our coverage of the show gives you a feeling of being there to some extent.

As well as being very well attended, the show is also absolutely huge and you can kind of tell the people who are making their first visit to High End as they begin the day looking not a little dazed and confused – or perhaps that was the previous night’s beer intake.

We try to cover as much of the show as is physically possible but to get into every room, make notes and take pictures is impossible and this year we have been somewhat selective – but don’t worry as we will have reports from myself, Linette, Ian Ringstead and Janine Elliot, as well as a report from the HifiDeluxe show that takes place at the same time in Munich.

So, without further ado, here is my first report featuring: TAD (Technical Audio Devices) Laboratories, Kii Audio, Technics, Octave, ATC, GATO and Emotiva, Audio Reference, Dan D’agostino, Absolute Sounds, Canton, DALI, AVM, Primare and inakustik, Accuton and Bugatti, JoSound and Axjets, Crystal Cables and Siltech, Vitus Audio, THRAX, Raidho/Scansonic, Joseph Audio and Alluxity and Weiss & PSI Audio.
