CYRUS AUDIO ANNOUNCE THE BEGINNING OF A NEW AND IMPROVED CLASSIC SERIES

The new Cyrus Classic Series from the British HiFi brand retains the classic ‘Cyrus look’ from the outside.

The Classic series from Cyrus gets a reboot with the Cyrus Classic AMP integrated amplifier and the Cyrus Classic PRE preamplifier.

These products are very important to Cyrus, they are a part of our DNA, so when we had the opportunity to make them even better using knowledge gained from the development of the XR series, it made perfect sense.” said Chris Hutcheson, Head of Marketing.

BRAND NEW CIRCUIT DESIGN

That is where the similarities end though. Cyrus tells us that the circuit design has been completely re-designed and the majority of the internal components have been upgraded by the Cyrus R&D team.

CYRUS CLASSIC AMP

Cyrus says that the new integrated amplifier provides a significant step up in performance from previous versions by using everything that they learnt when developing the XR Series, but retaining the familiar design of the Classic series.

POWER AMPLIFIER

The power amplifier delivers 91W per channel into 6Ω. The wideband design responds from D.C. to beyond 50kHz to ensure a flat frequency response and minimal phase shift through the audio band.

ANALOGUE PREAMPLIFIER

The analogue preamp features relay input selection for the five analogue inputs and a precision gain control for volume. The design is intentionally wide bandwidth.

POWER SUPPLY

The power supply includes a 304VA toroidal power transformer delivering power to a high capacity power supply reserve. The preamplifier power supply is electrically separated from the power amplifier and driven from its own transformer winding. Digital control circuits are assigned a separate mains power supply, completely isolated from the signal circuitry.

PSX-R

The Classic AMP includes a port for the PSX-R power supply. Power from the PSX-R is routed internally to the analogue stages of the preamplifier to provide a more stable, low-noise power supply for the analogue preamp and post-DAC stages of the D/A converter.

ANALOGUE PREAMPLIFIER

PHONO MM INPUT

The phono MM input stage design features dual active gain stages and passive RIAA equalisation.

UN/BALANCED OUTPUTS

The unbalanced outputs are provided for close wired systems where the power amplifier is located close to the Classic Pre. The balanced outputs are recommended for longer cable runs in systems where the Classic Pre is driving power amplifiers placed close to the system speakers or active speakers.

POWER SUPPLY

The Classic Pre power supply includes a 74VA toroidal power transformer delivering power to a high capacity power supply reserve. Within the circuit design, a total of 11 independent power supply regulators regulate, then sub-regulate quiet power. Digital control circuits are assigned a separate mains power supply, completely isolated from the signal circuitry.

PSX-R

The Classic Pre includes a port for the PSX-R power supply. Power from the PSX-R is routed internally to the analogue stages of the preamplifier to provide a more stable, low-noise power supply for the analogue preamp and post-DAC stages of the D/A converter.
