EUROPEAN AUDIO TEAM INTRODUCES THEIR NEW TURNTABLE THE EAT C-DUR
European Audio Team’s latest creation, the EAT C-Dur Turntable, has reached North America and is shipping now.
The Austrian manufacturer of turntables and electronics has introduced a new entry to its core turntable line.
EAT C-DUR TURNTABLE
The new EAT C-Dur Turntable offers the luxury appeal of the EAT’s premium reference tables, such as the Fortissimo, in a more compact footprint and accessible price category.
HIGH MASS, COMPACT EAT C-DUR TURNTABLE
European Audio Team employs a high mass design for the 34.4lb EAT C-Dur Turntable. The foundation of the C-Dur is its massive 50mm MDF plinth. The rotating mass of the platter and sub-platter add up to a substantial 13.45lb. The C-Dur’s platter is an oversized 13.5 inches. This design choice is made as it maximizes inertia while minimizing bearing load and noise. The platter’s Teflon thrust plate rests on a 3.9lb inverted bearing assembly with stainless steel spindle and ceramic ball. The combination with EAT’s low-noise, fully decoupled motor, and onboard AC generator gives the C-Dur speed stability and low levels of rumble.
MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL ISOLATION
The turntable is effectively decoupled from its surface by three damped, height-adjustable aluminium feet that are designed to give perfect stance and reduce the risk of acoustic feedback. A high-precision onboard electronic speed control is installed in the chassis, featuring polished aluminium buttons with integrated status LEDs. For good measure, an outboard 15V power supply is provided for the lowest possible noise floor.
C-NOTE TONEARM
The EAT C-Dur Turntable shares the 10″ C-Note tonearm with the EAT’s C-Sharp. A unique feature of all C-Note arms is the inclusion of a damper assembly in the bearing housing. Using a special silicon-based lubricant, this device is claimed to reduce tonearm/cartridge resonances by more than 50%. C-Note arms combine a stiff low-mass carbon fibre tube with an aluminium headshell to provide the rigidity and low resonance necessary.
EAT C-DUR TURNTABLE LUXURY STYLING
The Satin Black variant is positioned as the next logical step up from the EATC-Major. The Plum wood version delivers a luxury wood-finished product and serves as a compact alternative to the C-Sharp. The table is available without a cartridge or in a bundle with EAT’s Jo No. 5 moving coil cartridge.
