French loudspeaker and headphone manufacturer Focal have launched a new pair of luxury high end headphones and their first headphone amplifier/DAC.
Focal Arche Headphone Amplifier And DAC
Focal Arche combines a digital-analogue converter with two pure class A amplification modes (voltage and hybrid), designed especially for headphones.
Arche also offers presets for every set of Focal headphones and its dual mono construction makes it possible to separate management of the left and right channels, from the powering stage. The two balanced digital-analogue converters can process formats in PCM format up to 384kHz, as well as DSD 264.
The analogue signal is then routed towards two pure class A amplification channels. Can also be used as a DAC for Hifi home systems. Price is £2499/$2500.
Focal Stellia Headphones
The new Focal Stellia Closed Back Headphones are equipped with a new generation of exclusive electro-dynamic speaker drivers, capable of working at low acoustic load while offering an extensive frequency response (5Hz – 40kHz).
The many cutting-edge technologies in the speaker drivers include a frameless 100% copper voice coil and M’-shaped pure Beryllium dome. Stellia’s offers low impedance at 35 Ω, making the headphones easy to drive. Stellia uses the headband and yoke mechanical features originally developed for the Utopia headphones and high-resilience memory foam for the earpads.
They come in a Cognac and Mocha finish, with full-grain leather. A leather case, and rigid carry case are included. One 3m (9.1ft) high-quality cable, for use at home with a headphone amplifier, with a 4-pin XLR connector, plus a 1.2m (3⅜ft) cable with 3.5mm jack (⅛”) are also included. Price is £2799/$3000.
