GERMAN BRAND AVM LAUNCHES NEW PRODUCTS AT HIGH END MUNICH
AVM announces new All-in-One top model, a new EVOLUTION Line generation, and a complete multi-room system at High End Munich 2022.
Mid-morning on Friday at Munich High End saw us escaping the MOC and making our way over to the Drivers Lounge private members club at Motor World, just over the road.
MOTOR WORLD DRIVERS LOUNGE
A very cool venue for a HiFi product launch and press conference, chosen because luxury and sports car fan and AVM owner, Udo Besser, is a member of the club. He was quite coy about which supercars he has in his garage and would only tell us that he has ‘them all…but not a Lamborghini’. Safe to say that Mr AVM is quite a petrolhead. A nice calm and relaxing venue, a cold drink and delicious bites to eat were very welcome away from the bustling MOC.
Now, this would be the section where we would bring you lots of photos of very nice cars, but as it is a private members club, the cars are owned by real people, so in the private area where we were it was a strict ‘no photos please’ policy that was rigorously enforced by the staff.
Anyway, on to the reason why we were there, the HiFi!
AVM EXPANSION
During the last three years since we have seen Udo and the AVM team they have expanded their production facilities and staff widely, increased R&D capacity and now have a whole load of new products to share with us. In fact they have seen growth of 70% which is very impressive. Udo introduced us to the new products, which are as sleek and minimalist in style as we have come to expect from AVM.
AVM OVATION CS 8.3 BLACK EDITION
The AVM OVATION CS 8.3 Black Edition is the high-performance version of AVM’s largest and most powerful All-in-One unit. New black edition tubes, an upgraded DAC, WBT speaker terminals and numerous additional details now boost the OVATION CS 8.3 into a “new level of audiophile performance”. SRP in Europe is 15,000€. It also features an all-black finish which looks very cool.
EVOLUTION LINE .3 GENERATION
The EVOLUTION Line .3 generation starts with a pair of All-in-One siblings: CS 3.3 as an all solid-state and CS 5.3 with a tube stage equipped pre-stage variation. The new sister Media players MP 3.3 (solid-state) and 5.3 (tube stage) are to follow within a few weeks. There will be no standalone CD players in the .3 gen and the CD drive in the media players will be Redbook CD, SACD is not seen as a viable option by the brand. The phonostage options will be modular, MM, MC or balanced MC. Class A/AB amplifiers will complete the line at the end of Q3/2022. The new AVM EVO Line .3 gen products are easy to distinguish from each other…the hybrid 5.3 models have a glass window in the top panel so you can see the tubes inside and the 3.3 solid state models don’t. Simples.
For those wanting their shiny fix the products are available in a chrome finish or a less blingy brushed aluminium…whichever you go for they will look smart in any system, AVM products really do have a lovely aesthetic that oozes quality.
AVM ROOMCONNEXION
AVM’s all-new multi-room system will be named AVM RoomConneXion. The AVM RA room amp features 140/ch amplification and AVM’s own X-STREAM Engine, HDMI ARC, various digital inputs, and a high-performance DAC. It will retail at 2,490€. The smaller RB room bridge will feature the AVM X-STREAM Engine®, HDMI ARC, and various digital inputs and will retail at 1,990€.
AVM AND PMC
AVM products are distributed in the UK by PMC Distribution (another string to the loudspeaker manufacturers’ bow) and PMC speakers are distributed in Germany by AVM, so there is a real, natural synergy between the products and they work very well together, but more on that later.
