HIGH END MUNICH 2022 SHOW REPORT – BIRD’S EYE VIEW PART 6 DECK THE HALLS
Into the Halls with Mrs HiFi Pig including Solidsteel, Diptyque, Ambitious Audio Design, Arya Audio, Atlas Cables, Audionec, Esprit Cables, Auris, Bayz Audio, Borg.
High End Munich being as huge as it is, Stuart and myself split up to cover the Halls on the ground floor of the show, and we covered as much as we could physically get around.
Although the big rooms upstairs are often the biggest draw of the show, there are some brilliant things to discover on the ground floors, with the purpose-built sound booths often providing some excellent sounds when matched with the right equipment. There’s something for everyone, from Headfi to high-end speakers, turntables to racks and cables and power solutions. Enjoy!
Italian HiFi stand and rack brand Solidsteel were showing both a new all-black finish for their VL series racks and a new, very high-end range, HP series, with deeper shelves to accommodate really high-end components. The finish looked like marble but is a clever sandwich construction finished in highly polished ceramic. very beautiful and complemented by the old gold and copper-coloured legs and spikes. The system features clever use of 3D printing and a new, steel badge that really goes with the quality of the product.
French loudspeaker brand Diptyque does things a little differently. In their booth they were showing the new Diptyque Reference panel speaker, you can read more about it and get the specs here. I was chatting to our reviewer Ian who had been in this booth before me and he had said how great it was…he was not wrong! Even in a small soundbooth Diptyque gave a sense of air and space and what a stunning speaker to look at. Both practical and wonderful sounding.
The Ambitious Audio Design A1.1 speaker is the new model from a young Danish company. I was excited about seeing these, listening could not be done properly as they were playing at very low volume on an open stand. The finish is incredible, a modern take on classic design with soft touches of 1950s style and American Streamlining. You can read more about them here.
Arya Audio are a UK based brand that we came across on the Newcomers stand back in 2018. They launched their Airblade driver then and now it has made it into actual loudspeakers.
Great to see Scottish cable brand Atlas, they were launching their new Atlas Aran cables.
Audionec loudspeakers using Esprit Cables were a very nice combination in another of the Soundbooths. Read our recent Esprit Celesta review here.
The new Auris Bayadere 3 turntable and Auris W9 tonearm looked great in the flesh.
Bayz Audio, managed to have a great sound in the booth they were in with their unconventional speakers.
The very futuristic looking Borg Audio.
