NEW GERMAN BRAND LUPHONIC LABS INTRODUCES TWO TURNTABLES AND A TONEARM AT HIGH END MUNICH 2022
Luphonic Labs was founded at the beginning of 2020 in Linden,Germany. Their aim is to develop and manufacture audio devices of high sonic and technical quality, with special attention paid to durability and aesthetic design.
Luphonic Labs are launching their Luphonic H1 and Luphonic H2 turntables and Luphonic K2 tonearm on the Newcomers stand at High End Munich 2022. The H2 turntable features a very novel operating concept using a small puck that is placed on the turntable.
LUPHONIC H1
The Luphonic H1 model is a belt-driven turntable with a chassis made of HPL-laminated rigid polyurethane foam. The platter is made of low-resonance solid surface material. Luphonic Labs says that the extremely light chassis (600g) effectively prevents the transmission of sound-damaging influences to the cartridge. The surface of the chassis also does not show up fingerprints.
The synchronous motor is controlled by an external motor controller that generates highly accurate sine and cosine waves. The motor control is individually paired to the associated motor. This ensures smooth operation with optimum torque.
LUPHONIC H2
The model Luphonic H2 is a sub-chassis player, which is belt-driven by a precise MCU controlled synchronous motor. The chassis as well as the platter are made of Solid Surface material. The two layers of the solid surface material of the chassis are decoupled from each other by a layer of vibration-damping cellular rubber. The motor is mounted on the bottom layer. This helps to suppress motor vibrations.
H2 OPERATING CONCEPT. SEE IT AT HIGH END MUNICH 2022
The Luphonic H2 record player is operated with a round puck. The puck is black on one side and white on the other and, when placed on the turntable, the platter starts spinning. Depending on which side is placed down, the record is played at either 33 or 45 revolutions per minute.
SOLID SURFACE MATERIAL
The Solid Surface material is a composite material consisting of acrylic-bonded aluminium hydroxide. Due to its physical properties, this material is very well suited for record player construction. Through elaborate grinding and polishing, surfaces are obtained that resemble granite and marble.
LUPHONIC K2 TONEARM
Both the H1 and H2 turntables are equipped with the in-house developed Luphonic K2 radial tonearm as standard. This tonearm is based on a carbon tube with gimbal suspension. Precise miniature ball bearings are used for the bearing. The headshell is made of polyamide and filled with tiny glass balls. This achieves high rigidity with low weight. The Luphonic K2 tonearm is suitable for cartridges with a weight between 5g and 14g.and is also available separately.
PRICES AND AVAILABILITY
The recommended retail price for the LUPHONIC H1 is 1,690 euros. The H2 model is available for 2,490 euros. The K2 tonearm is 890 euros. All models are available immediately.
