MELODIKA MDUCB PURPLE RAIN USB CABLE TYPE C-B LAUNCHED

Polish HiFi brand Melodika is expanding its product range with another USB cable the Melodika MDUCB Purple Rain, designed for data transmission.

The USB C-B cable, which is designed by Melodika and manufactured in Poland, allows convenient connection of devices equipped with a USB C port, such as computers, tablets, and smartphones, as well as peripheral devices with a USB B connector, such as C/A DAC converters, audio interfaces, sound cards, etc.

When designing the Melodika Purple Rain MDUCB cable, the priority was to deliver the digital signal in the best possible quality. Therefore, the Melodika Purple Rain MDUCB cable is constructed with two pairs of conductors (4x 0.2mm2), with one of these pairs used for data transmission and the other for power supply. The arrangement, in which the data transmission line is isolated and has its own shielding, which minimizes external interference. By isolating power from signal conductors, Melodika says they achieve low jitter and prevent interference.

SHIELDING

Triple shielding, consisting of two layers of Mylar foil and a tin-plated copper braid, reduces electrical noise and electromagnetic interference (EMI). The 24-karat gold-plated connectors reduce losses in the plug-socket connection. The connectors are precisely joined to the cable using high quality silver-copper solder.

INSULATION

The durable purple PVC outer insulation is resistant to UV radiation and alcohol, and it exhibits ‘excellent impact resistance’ even within a wide temperature range from -30 to +70 degrees Celsius. This makes the Melodika MDUCB cable suitable for installations as well.

MELODIKA MDUCB FUNCTIONALITY

 Melodika says: “It’s worth pointing out that the functionality of the USB C-B cable also depends on the capabilities offered by the socket used in the connected device. Devices equipped with a USB-C port, which serves both for data transmission and charging, are marked with a distinctive symbol resembling a trident, sometimes with the letters SS (Super Speed) added at the beginning. A lightning bolt symbol rather than a “trident,” put next to the socket you intend to use with the USB C cable clearly indicates that it is intended only for charging the device and is not a transmission connector. Such a USB C socket does not allow data transfer, regardless of the cable used. Before making a purchase, it’s always worth checking the specifications of both the devices and the cable to ensure it serves the intended purpose”.
