Onkyo and Pioneer have confirmed that they will be releasing a free firmware updates throughout the month of August to add Deezer support to a large number of their AV receivers and networked audio devices. Deezer is one of the most popular subscription-based, streaming music services, with access to a library of more than 53 million songs.
On top of the existing tiers of Deezer’s service, the upcoming firmware updates will also enable access to a brand new option… Deezer Hifi. Subscribing to this means it is possible for owners to listen to CD quality, lossless (16bit / 44.1kHz) FLAC music files, with Deezer currently providing 36 million tracks.
Owners can also use the “Flow” facility to listen to a personalised soundtrack. This creates a bespoke soundtrack, based on the user’s listening tastes. “Flow” doesn’t just include known favourites, but also introduces selected new songs, helping the listener to discover exciting new artists.
