ORIGIN LIVE TO LAUNCH MKV TONEARM RANGE AT BRISTOL HIFI SHOW 2025

The British HiFi brand has announced their Origin Live MkV Tonearm range, with significant trickle-down tech from their high-end designs.

The new generation brings a series of refinements; aimed at enhancing stability, resonance control, and tracking precision.

MULTI-LAYER COUNTERWEIGHT

The MkV generation introduces a refined Multi-Layer Counterweight (MLC) for all models from the Illustrious upwards. This counterweight is designed not only to adjust tracking force but also to control vibration and stabilise the pivot. The MLC’s multiple layers absorb unwanted resonance, while an outrigger positions mass below the pivot to improve stability.

REINFORCING THE DUAL-PIVOT DESIGN

Origin Live, a pioneer in dual-pivot tonearm technology for over 20 years, has reasserted the significance of this design in the MkV series. The dual-pivot system provides superior torsional resistance, they tell us, ensuring stable azimuth for the cartridge stylus.

NEW TUBE TREATMENT FOR IMPROVED CLARITY

All MkV tonearms benefit from a newly developed tube treatment aimed at increasing transparency and separation. While Origin Live has not disclosed specific details of this treatment, they confirm it is neither rubber nor foam and avoids overdamping while effectively minimising residual vibration. This enhancement has been in production since 1st September 2024.

TRACKING FORCE ADJUSTMENT REFINEMENTS

Models from the Illustrious upwards now feature an improved method for setting tracking force. Origin Live has redesigned the attachment of the counterweight to the rear sleeve, making large adjustments easier and more precise. A fine adjuster offers greater control over tracking force settings.

CABLE HOUSING FOR ENHANCED FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT

For the Encounter model and above, Origin Live has worked on reducing mechanical resistance caused by tonearm cabling. Unlike designs where the cable routing adds friction to movement, the MkV series employs a housing solution that minimises interference, allowing the tonearm to track with greater accuracy.

ORIGIN LIVE MKV TONEARM RANGE PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

The Origin Live MkV tonearm series will be officially launched at the Bristol HiFi Show on 21st February 2025. Prices start at £2,340 for the Illustrious model, with further refinements available in higher-tier models.
