HIGH STREET FAVOURITE OUR PRICE IS BACK ONLINE

Twenty years since the last bricks and mortar Our Price record store closed, it has returned online…with plans to return to the high street too.

Founded in 1971 by Gary Nesbitt, Mike Connor and Eddie Piller, what began as a humble single shop on Finchley Road would mushroom into a national chain over the following decades, ultimately selling to Virgin for what in today’s money would be the equivalent of £320 million.

VINYL AND HIFI

As well as over 30,000 vinyl records and a cool selection of band merchandise, Our Price now offers a diverse range of HiFi equipment to suit any budget. At launch, this includes a carefully curated range from Triangle, Kanto and Pro-Ject as well as more entry-level products from Aiwa. The HiFi range will continue to expand, watch this space for more updates.

OUR PRICE BACK ON THE HIGH STREET

Whilst currently online, the big aim for the new Our Price team is to get back on the high street.

Paul Harris, CEO and one of the founders of the new Our Price told us:

“Our 2025 goal is to develop a flagship store (in Brighton) as a blueprint for a franchise model. Each store would be personalised to the area, but essentially combine soft seating, old fashioned listening booths for two, the best local coffee, and cold drinks, vinyl, CDs, merch and HiFi products you can browse, plus visiting DJs, bands, talks, book signings, HiFi demos etc. We want it as a franchise as I genuinely think the best managers will be the owners – they have to be passionate about music and retail and they have to have skin in the game to care enough to shine. That’s a big part of it for us. It’s a journey. Destination Stores”

OUR PRICE RECORDS

From its origins in 1971 to its closure in 2004, Our Price was a cornerstone of the British music scene and many UK high streets. Back in the day Lin, (Mrs HiFi PiG) used to work in Our Price, and we are really pleased to see them back again.
