PAUL BAYLISS JOINS PMC AS BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Replacing experience with experience as Tom Baron retires after 23 years.

Paul Bayliss Joins PMC Distribution

PMC Distribution UK has appointed Paul Bayliss to the role of business development manager South, overseeing sales and retailer support across the company’s PMC, Bryston, AVM, and Martin Logan brands for the southern UK region.

PAUL BAYLISS

Bayliss steps into the role as the HiFi veteran Tom Barron retires from the company, having served the business for the past 23 years. Prior to his appointment by PMC Distribution UK, Bayliss, who lives in Hertfordshire with his young family, worked for a UK-based custom installation distribution business and before that he was responsible for PMC’s home audio sales in the Asia Pacific region.

“I am very much looking forward to my return to PMC and the UK HiFi industry. The experience I gained working for PMC previously and latterly in the custom installation sector, will be of great benefit as I take up this new role,” says Bayliss. “Taking over the territory and responsibilities of Tom Barron is a very exciting prospect and an honour for me. He is one of the most well-known and highly respected figures working in the HiFi industry, but I am confident that we can carry on the incredible work he has done with the UK retailers to establish and grow a solid retail base.”

Welcoming Paul to the company, Ian Sutton, PMC Distribution UK director, says, “We are delighted that Paul is returning to the PMC family and can’t think of anyone more suited to the task of following in the footsteps of Tom Barron. Paul’s experience with PMC products and his in-depth knowledge of HiFi custom installation and high-end home cinema projects will be invaluable as we continue to develop our portfolio and sales through the retail and CI channels.”

TOM BARRON

Tom Barron joined PMC as the company’s first area sales manager, originally looking after the whole of the UK. His role in helping develop PMC into the business it is today cannot be overstated.

Peter Thomas, founder and owner of PMC with Tom Barron

“Tom took our fledgling range of HiFi products and worked tirelessly to introduce them to the hi-fi retailers up and down the length of the UK,” says Peter Thomas, founder and owner of PMC. “He quickly became a very familiar and popular member of the PMC team, known and respected by his colleagues and the many retailers with whom he built solid relationships. The HiFi buying public also grew to know Tom through his now legendary demonstrations at the many HiFi shows we attend. Always enjoying himself, clearly a master of the art of demonstration and a great ‘face of PMC’, he helped make our demos the most popular at the shows. I am enormously grateful for his many years of dedication and service to PMC and am very proud to be able to call him a friend. We all wish Tom well as he starts his much-deserved retirement.”

Paul Bayliss joins PMC on 13 June 2022, there will be a brief period of overlap with Tom Barron when they will be working together to ensure an orderly transition, before Tom steps down on 30 June.

HiFi Pig Says: Tom Barron is a class act to follow but Paul is most certainly up to the job, we wish him the best in his new role with PMC Distribution.
