roksponsmallPMC is enhancing its top of the range SE loudspeakers with a new selection of veneers to complement the latest trends in interior decoration and customer requirements.

The SE Series builds on the performance of PMC’s three-way studio monitor speakers and combines them with the finest traditions of British cabinet making. The most discerning of audiophiles can now specify their SE models, in active or passive guise, in Grand Walnut or Amarone, with Natural Oak and Jet Black Veneer available to order.

PMC has researched the emerging developments in home décor and, in consultation with its customers, identified these new finishes as ‘on trend’. Combined with the grille-less design of the SE with its unblemished front baffle, the sustainable hand selected and book matched veneers provide the SE Series with an aesthetic that is in keeping with the quality of the audio performance.

The SE Series encompasses the large three-way models, the IB2, MB2 and BB5 and is available as passive or fully active versions. It continues PMC’s build quality with cabinets that have been redesigned with additional bracing to generate a lower cabinet resonance for reduced noise and to recreate a purer musical signal. The SE Series posses improved clarity in the midrange and better handling of transients in fast attacking bass notes. This is further enhanced through the use of an innovative profiled dispersion flange for the PMC 75 midrange driver. Special attention has also been given to the detailing on the terminal panel with a new tactile Nextel™ texture applied that also provides a luxurious finish for the drive units. The custom designed stands are finished in matching timber and are fitted with large precision spun spikes to complete the aesthetic and provide a firm foundation for the speakers.

Keith Tonge, creative director, says, “Loudspeakers make a major statement, not only through sound, but through their looks and physical presence in a room.” He continues, “The culmination of our research into emerging trends prompted the development of these four new finishes, which match their desirability with the  superlative audio performance.”
