PMC has appointed Tim Ireland to the position of chief executive officer, overseeing all day to day operations of the company as it expands its product portfolio, UK distribution business and global distribution network. Peter Thomas takes up the role of chairman.

Ireland joins PMC after seven years as CEO of Meridian Audio and previously head of product development at Bowers and Wilkins. His appointment comes at a time of sustained growth for the privately owned business, that has seen its turnover increase considerably over the past five years and export markets grow to 55 countries.

In his capacity as CEO, Ireland will be in charge of the manufacturing and operations departments, sales and marketing, personnel and finance functions, plus the company’s US office in California. He will be responsible for managing the growth of PMC through continued improvements in products, quality and the speed and levels of service offered to customers, while at the same time maintaining the PMC family relationship with its staff and customers.

Making the appointment, Peter Thomas comments “The fantastic growth of PMC now requires it to have a dedicated CEO who can be focused entirely on the running of the global business. The board and I are extremely pleased to have appointed someone of Tim’s experience and knowledge. His proven management skills and business vision make him the perfect choice to lead our very strong management team that works to uphold the high standards that Adrian Loader and I set up 27 years ago. With Tim in charge, I can now concentrate on supporting the board as chairman, as we look to expand our manufacturing facilities and introduce the hand-building of the fenestria. I shall continue to work with my son, Oliver Thomas, who heads up the research and development into new technologies and products. I can also, finally, curate the PMC museum of landmark hifi products, of which we have a vast number, and I can also take some time to listen to the ever-growing stack of 78s, 33s, 45s, CDs and files!”
