SCV PARTNERS WITH MANLEY LABS FOR UK HIFI AND HOME AUDIO DISTRIBUTION

British HiFi distributor SCV has announced a new partnership with Californian audio brand Manley Labs.

Manely Labs are a renowned manufacturer of home audio and pro studio products based in Chino, CA. the Manley name has become synonymous with their signature audio building block, the tube.

From 1st Sept, SCV will be the official distributor of all Manley HiFi and Home Audio products for the UK and Ireland.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF MANLEY

Manley’s first commercially available products were upper echelon high-fidelity vacuum tube amplifiers and preamplifiers constructed at the old Vacuum Tube Logic of America factory.

Manley’s story harkens back to 1989 when founder EveAnna Manley joined the production team at Vacuum Tube Logic of America while on sabbatical from Columbia University where she quickly rose to VTL’s QC department and armed with newfound tube soldering and assembly skills. At this time the very first Manley professional products were being released, including the 1U Reference 60dB microphone preamp, Manley Enhanced Pultec and Mid Frequency Equaliser. These, along with the Reference Cardioid and Reference Gold recording microphones became the first Manley models to be unveiled to the world at LA’s 1990 AES Show.

From 1993, Manley Labs became an entirely separate entity from VTL. The Manley operation was moved to its current home in Chino CA, complete with a machine shop, PCB facilities and Langevin production lines. The following year Manley would go on to add a custom transformer winding department, which still makes up a huge part to Manley’s hallmark sound today.

Since the year 2000, Manley has focused on streamlining their US-based production for maximum efficiency while also maintaining the primary principles of high-end audio manufacturing.

Manley’s preamplifier range serves a number of different home audio applications. Their flagship STEELHEAD phono stage and its more affordable CHINOOK sibling offer a solution for turntable users, while the minimalist JUMBO SHRIMP delivers stereo output drive together with high dynamic range. Finally the Neo-Classic 300B features Elecrohamonix’s 300B output tubes.

Available in a variety of shapes and sizes, Manley Labs power amplifiers start at the more compact end, the MAHI and SNAPPER mono-blocks deliver 20/40 and 100 Watts of power respectively, while the Neo-Classic 250 and 500W models offer even more headroom powered by decades of circuit and component refinements.
