Denon has announced three new Network AV Receivers in the company’s X Series line, the AVR-X3300W, AVR-X2300W and AVR-X1300W. These three new units build upon Denon’s X Series AV Receiver models, now in their 4th generation.
AVR-X1300W:
Seven discrete amplifier channels each providing 145 watts, Dolby Atmos and it is ready for DTS:X that can create an immersive sound field around the listener no matter the number of speakers installed (free DTS:X update scheduled for later in 2016). Users can also choose between Dolby Surround and DTS Neural:X upmixers (via update) to create 3D sound from both legacy Dolby or DTS material.
The AVR-X1300W comes with built-in Bluetooth for music streaming from a smartphone, and even Wi-Fi to easily connect to a home network. Once connected, the AVR-X1300W opens up playback options, including Apple AirPlay, network attached storage devices (NAS), Internet Radio and Spotify Connect (where available; subscriptions required). High Resolution audio files like FLAC, AIFF or DSD (up to 5.6MHz) are also supported. A front USB port can be used to connect either USB storage devices, or an iDevice to playback music and charge at the same time.
The AVR-X1300W is loaded with a host of features including compatibility with the latest HDMI 2.0a specification, as well as HDCP 2.2 on all inputs, required for 4K Ultra HD copy-protected content. In total 6 HDMI inputs, of which one is located at the front panel, are plenty enough to connect modern HDMI devices such as Blu-ray players, game consoles or set-top-boxes. The AVR further supports full rate 4K Ultra HD including full resolution 4:4:4 Pure Color sub-sampling pass-through, HDR (High Dynamic Range) and BT.2020.
AVR-X2300W:
The AVR-X2300W shares the same values and features of its younger brother but the power amplifiers are 150 watts per channel With in total 8 HDMI inputs and 2 HDMI outputs, this AVR is ready to handle most likely every HDMI device ever used at home. The video processor section can upcale all HDMI sources like DVDs to 1080p or even 4k Ultra HD resolution. The AVR-X2300W is also certified by the Imaging Science Foundation for video quality, and is equipped with the full suite of ISFccc advanced video calibration controls. A more extensive array of inputs, control options and a second zone cinch pre-out make the AVR-X2300W a truly versatile AV control centre.
AVR-X3300W:
With 180 watts per channel, the new AVR-X3300W is by far the strongest among the strong X Series newcomers. The video engine is another upgrade, as it can upconvert and transcode even old analogue sources to up to 4k Ultra HD 50/60 Hz resolution. The dual HDMI outputs support different program sources, so you can enjoy a surround movie in the main room and a separate stereo program with video from a different source in the second room. A 7.2ch pre-out section, an RS232 port and flexible amp assignment options will satisfy even demanding custom installers in regards to multi-zone listening and home automation.
To keep control of all features, there is a new Denon 2016 AVR Remote App available for iOS and Android devices, and for the Kindle Fire. With the exclusive Denon Setup Assistant along with the Quick Start Guide, setting up a Denon AV Receiver is quick and easy. Audyssey MultEQ XT (even MultEQ XT32 for the AVR-X3300W) automatic room acoustic measurement and correction system matches the installed speakers to the individual room’s acoustics. Audyssey Dynamic Volume offers real-time volume adjustment, while Audyssey Dynamic EQ improves a system’s surround sound effects at low volume levels.
The AVR-X3300W will be available in August, while the AVR-X2300W and AVR-X1300W will be launched already in June.
Denon has launched a new “premium” Network AV Receiver. Born from the company’s new 2015 AVR X Series with “Blockbusting 3D Sound”, the new AVR-X6200W has a pricetag of £1,799.
It comes with Dolby and is ready for the brand new immersive surround sound format DTS:X as well, and can be upgraded to Auro-3D.
All new Denon AVRs this year are equipped as standard with the latest HDMI version including full 4K Ultra HD support and HDCP 2.2 capability on all HDMI inputs for future-proofness. The AVR-X6200W is expected to be available in October 2015 at authorised Denon retailers.
The AVR-X6200W has a 9 channel amplifier with 205 watts per channel packed in a discrete monolithic amplifier design with custom made DHCT (Denon High Current Transistors). It also features Denon’s own D.D.S.C.-HD (Dynamic Discrete Surround Circuit High Definition) circuit with AL24 Processing Plus, supported by the use of high quality D/A Converters.
Denon Link HD Connection is provided for jitter-free transmission from a supporting Denon Blu-ray Player. Thanks to its 11.2 channel processing capability, the AVR-X6200W offers huge flexibility and adding an additional 2-channel power amplifier for example, it can run a unique Dolby Atmos experience up to 7.1.4 or 9.1.2 configurations. Through a free-of-charge firmware update later in 2015, brand new DTS:X and DTS Neural:X upmixer will be added, so can Auro-3D sound processing engine be added for another 3D sound experience (a fee is charged). Denon has announced a new addition to its recently introduced Denon Design Series. The DRA-100 Network Stereo Receiver (£799) has been created for listeners looking for a compact and high quality design. It features next generation music playback options including built-in Wi-Fi for high resolution music streaming, AirPlay, Bluetooth and a host of digital and analogue inputs.
The DRA-100 boasts a 2x 70W digital amplifier incorporating DDFA® technology for ”superior audio fidelity”. A subwoofer pre-out is at hand for adding more bass to the sound. Denon’s original sound technologies such as Advanced AL32 Processing and Master Clock design developed for the company’s premium Hi-Fi components are also included.
The DRA-100 features Bluetooth & Wi-Fi wireless streaming connectivity out-of-the-box. Once connected to the Internet through the home Wi-Fi network (or with a hard-wired connection via the RJ-45 Ethernet LAN port), music lovers can enjoy their favourite tracks from streaming music service Spotify Connect (where available). They can also choose from thousands of Internet Radio stations around the world. Thanks to the DLNA 1.5 compatibility, music file streaming from a local computer or NAS drive is possible too. The DRA-100 supports MP3, AAC, WMA, and high resolution audio tracks of up to 192-kHz/24-bits (WAV, FLAC, AIFF) along with DSD 2.8 MHz and 5.6 MHz files (DSD is the advanced digital audio coding system of SACD). The same file support is given through the front USB port, which in addition can directly play back music from an iDevice in best quality using the DRA-100’s audio circuit. The Bluetooth connectivity features quick and easy pairing to connect and stream music from any compatible portable device. For even faster pairing, the DRA-100 comes with NFC (Near Field Communication). By activating an NFC-enabled Bluetooth device and placing it next to the N mark on the product’s front panel, it’s instantly paired with no need for manual passcode entry. The Denon Hi-Fi Remote App lets you easily control the DRA-100 with your favourite portable device and it’s available for both Apple and Android devices.
There are multiple digital inputs (2 optical and 1 coaxial) for compatibility with digital audio sources along with two analogue stereo inputs for legacy analogue sources. A dedicated headphone amplifier circuit features a high speed ultra-low distortion wideband op amp that’s paired with a fully discrete final output stage. In order to accommodate the widest range of headphone types, the DRA-100 features an adjustable headphone impedance control, with 3 settings for low, medium and high impedance headphones which provide proper matching of headphone impedance and amplifier gain.
The DRA-100 will be available in a black/silver colour finish starting in October.

Denon® has unveiled its HEOS 1 and HEOS 1 Go Pack, the latest additions to the HEOS wireless multi-room music system. The portable HEOS 1 wireless speaker is the first product in the series intended for both indoor and outdoor use. The HEOS 1 Go Pack extends the usability and features of the HEOS 1 for consumers who want to take their music anywhere. These latest additions to the Denon HEOS series will be available in June.

The £79 HEOS 1 Go Pack is an accessory pack consisting of a rechargeable battery, a Splashguard, and a Bluetooth®-USB adapter. The HEOS 1 can provide up to 6 hours of music and entertainment, with the Go Pack’s rechargeable battery. The HEOS 1 speaker itself is humidity resistant, yet with the addition of the Splashguard it becomes splashproof for added protection at outdoor events that may occur in the rain or poolside. And for those who enjoy Bluetooth capability, the Go Pack’s Bluetooth-USB adapter allows the user to stream Bluetooth audio directly to one HEOS 1 speaker. In addition, when Wi-Fi is available, the Bluetooth audio can be shared with other HEOS devices.
Denon has announced the next instalment of its M series micro hi-fi sytem. Following on from the D-M39, the new D-M40 features a CD Receiver, the RCD-M40, along with SC-M40 two-way speakers.
The latest micro hi-fi system features improved connectivity options, including two digital optical inputs to hook up a TV, set-top box or other digital sources.
The D-M40’s USB port is capable of playing MP3 and WMA files, lossless FLAC, WAV and AAC formats. The system also provides a digitally transmitted play function for iDevices. The new D-M40 also boasts an upgraded headphone amplifier section with dedicated Gain Control.
Measuring just 210mm in width and 310mm in depth, the compact D-M40 can easily fit on a bookshelf, in a bedroom or in the home office while several colour combinations means it can blend seamlessly into different interior designs.
The D-M40 system has an SRP of £349 and will be available from June onwards, with the RCD-M40 CD receiver available in black or silver finish, and the SC-M40 speakers available in black or cherry wood. In selected countries, there will be DAB/DAB+ tuner versions available in store.
Denon has just confirmed the availability of a hardware upgrade for their AVR- X7200W flagship Network AV Receiver. Current owners of this AVR will now be able to upgrade their unit to support future-proof HDCP 2.2 copy protection protocol, needed for copy-protected 4k Ultra-HD content playback. The upgrade, which requires hardware modification at an authorized Denon Service Centre, will start in May. The cost for this upgrade will be EUR 199. At the same time, Denon starts replacing the AVR-X7200W (SRP: EUR 2.799) with the AVR-X7200WA (SRP: EUR 2.999), which is already factory-upgraded with the above new features.
Customers who wish to perform the HDCP 2.2 upgrade to transform their AVR-X7200W into an AVR-X7200WA should get in contact with their Denon retailer. For the owners of either AVR-X7200W or AVR-X7200WA, the Auro-3D software upgrade will continue to be available via Denon.
On a different note, Denon also shared a plan to offer a software update to bring new DTS:X immersive surround sound format to the AVR-X7200W and the AVR-X7200WA later this year. Details will be revealed when the time approaches.

Denon® announces that its HEOS wireless multi-room sound systems will soon be Google Cast Ready. With Google Cast in place, HEOS users will be able to stream Google Cast Ready content directly to their HEOS devices.

Denon has announced the latest generation of its lifestyle Network Music systems. The new CEOL and CEOL Piccolo systems are a pair of compact and minimalist designs that offer music playback from every audio source imaginable, all controlled by an App.
The CEOL provides access to your music collection via your home network, wherever it is stored – on a computer, network hard drive, or mobile device. With an integrated Wi-Fi and Ethernet cable connection, the CEOL supports AirPlay® and lossless streaming of high definition music files (FLAC HD/WAV/AIFF/ ALAC) from the home network. The CEOL also supports Bluetooth® streaming with NFC pairing, along with Spotify® Connect online music service, Internet radio and FM/AM radio. The CD player supports all of the usual CD formats and file types. The front panel USB port connects iPhones, iPods (with continuous battery charging even in standby mode), USB memory drive and USB-HDD.
