Flagship Shanling CD-T35 CD Player Streamer launched by the Chinese HiFi brand, featuring legacy components including the Philips CD-Pro 2 and AKM AK4499EQ DAC chips, to create a limited edition run of just 99 pieces.
SHANLING AUDIO
Shanling Audio was established in 1988, but their history with CD players started in 1994 with the release of Shanling SCD-939. What followed was a decade of progress in both the domestic and international HiFi markets, culminating with the release of the legendary CD-T300 in 2004.
Today, the main offices of Shanling Audio are located in Shenzhen, China, with their own factory in nearby Dongguan. Shanling Audio combines R&D, production, processing and sales of products, including Hi-Res portable music players, portable amplifiers, HiFi headphones, SACD/CD players, HiFi amplifiers, power conditioners and many other HiFi products, Shanling is also a OEM partner with many brands.
SHANLING CD-T300
With its recognisable three-legged design, high end DACs and tube-based output, the Shanling CD-T300 was seen as one of the pinnacles of the CD players of the time. Available only as a limited release at just 300 units, each of them selling for $6995 USD.
SHANLING CD-T35 CD PLAYER STREAMER
Now, twenty years later, Shanling returns to this three-legged design and, with the new Shanling CD-T35. Shanling says it is an amalgamation of the best components from the history of Shanling Audio, gathering the last remaining pieces of renowned parts for the final limited run of just 99 units.
These are crafted into one machine with all the experience Shanling engineers learned over the past 35 years and combined with the latest in-house developed streaming systems.
PHILIPS CD-PRO 2
At the heart of CD-T35 lies two important components, two parts that proved crucial in the history of Shanling, yet both are sadly not available anymore. Firstly, the Philips CD-Pro 2, the legendary CD module featuring in what are seen as some of the best CD players of all time. The module features linear tracking, housed in an overbuilt die-cast metal body and running an advanced decoding system.
AKM AK4499EQ DACS
The Shanling CD-T35 CD Player Streamer features a pair of AKM AK4499EQ DAC chips. These have been used in devices including Shanling M8 and M9, until production was sadly halted due to the fire at AKM’s facilities in 2020.
A similar approach was taken with other parts of the audio circuit, with engineers reaching into their last remaining stock of the best capacitors, internal wiring and even solder material, all in the pursuit of the high-end performance of CD-T35.
12AU7 TUBES
These legacy components are combined with the latest in-house technologies developed by Shanling, including Constant Phase in All Frequencies Low Pass system and Custom I/V conversion circuit. And it wouldn’t be a proper Shanling CD player without tubes, with the Shanling CD-T35 CD Player Streamer featuring four hand-matched 12AU7 tubes.
