Chinese brand SMSL has announced August 20th as the release date for their new M500 DAC, though the price is yet to be confirmed.

The new SMSL M500 head/DAC/Pre will support MQA decoding and uses the ES9038PRO digital-to-analogue chip and ES9311 power supply chip. Processing is provided by the XMOS XU-208 to allow 32-bit processing and supporting DoP and Native DSD up to DSD512 via USB.

SMSL claim the low noise and optimized clock processing on the M500 will give “ultra-low” levels of jitter and there is a separate headphone amp designed not to interfere with the main pre’s output.
