SOLID-SOUNDS SPINNING ROOM AT NWAS 2024
Leeds-based Solid-Sounds Spinning Room are returning to the Cranage Estate this year in room 244 with a range of new products.
SOLID-SOUNDS HEX3
The much improved HEX3 compact open baffle loudspeakers will be in action again. Solid-Sounds hope to build on their successful debut at last year’s NWAS. Development of the loudspeaker has been intense during the last 12 months with improvements being made to the HEX3 design in a number of key areas including a fully redesigned crossover, a new midrange driver, custom solid silver cabling loom, bass driver wings and a proprietary isolation base.
Solid-Sounds say the updates have crucially managed to retain the HEX3’s dynamic sound but with improved tonal balance and a new sensitivity rating of 96db.
PURESOUND
To celebrate the partnership that Solid-Sounds Spinning Room has developed with Guy Sergeant of Puresound the HEX3s will be powered by the Puresound L300 valve preamplifier feeding a pair of Puresound M845 mono valve power amps. This pre/power combination is a superb match with the HEX3s, says Paul Knipe of Solid-Sounds.
THORENS, ALPHASON, WHEST AND BEL CANTO
The analogue front end will consist of a 1960s Thorens TD124 mkii idler turntable that has been lovingly resorted by Solid-Sounds and will sport one of their very custom plinths. The tonearm being used will be the Alphason HR200S, this will be feeding the Whest Titan Pro phonostage.
Not forgetting the digital format the streaming duties will all be converted via a Bel Canto E1X DAC.
SONIK KABLES
Continuing Solid-Sounds focus of supporting small UK manufacturing operations the cabling for the system is a show debut for the solid silver cables of the small boutique Midlands-based company Sonik Kables.
SOLID-SOUNDS HIFI RACK
All the equipment will of course be on a Solid-Sounds HEX style bespoke HiFi rack.
