Stones Speakers creators Michele G. and Giacomo M. have presented their unusual looking loudspeakers at many Italian Hifi Shows this year. They have also updated their standmount 487 Venetia model.

The Stones Speakers 487 Venetia is a two-way speaker system with double, round reflex bass ports on the rear, entirely carved from stone. They say that the stone cabinet ensures maximum rigidity of the entire baffle and has a raw look as natural stone used is.

Morel Supreme Drivers

Both the woofer and tweeter are selected from the Morel Supreme series of drivers. The efficiency of the speaker is 87 dB with frequency range declared to 40 Hz.

Crossover

The crossover section is in separate chambers inside the cabinet. It is a passive filter with a 12 db/dec slope, and uses the top of the range Jantzen audio capacitors and wax coil inductors. Crossover frequency is around 3 kHz. The minimum impedance measured is more than 5 Ohms, making these speakers easy to drive.

There is real leather finishing located in the middle axis of the cabinet which is customisable in the type of leather and colour. On the rear circular plate are located two pairs of high-quality rhodium-plated connectors for bi-wiring connections, and the surface is covered with the same leather and with the logo engraved.

Venetian Stone

Venetia is the city where the particular stone used to produce the cabinet (called Euganean Trachyte) has been used since ancient times for architecture and artworks. The number 487 before, is the name of an asteroid and all of the Stones Speakers product line bear asteroid names.

Stones Speakers are planning to exhibit further afield next year, as they plan to take their products to the Audio Video Show Warsaw, 2020, in November.
