TAD LABS UPGRADES TAD-M1000 EVOLUTION SERIES POWER AMPLIFIER TO TAD-M1000TX
Japanese HiFi brand Technical Audio Devices Laboratories, Inc. or TAD Labs, has announced the launch of the TAD Labs TAD-M1000TX two-channel power amplifier as the newest addition to its Evolution Series.
The TAD Labs TAD-M1000TX will replace the TAD-M1000, incorporating many refinements, including a redesigned circuit layout and power transformers.
TAD LABS TAD-M1000TX POWER AMPLIFIER
The TAD-M1000TX employs a design language shared with the TAD-D1000TX disc player, TAD-DA1000TX D/A converter, and TAD-C1000 preamplifier already offered in the Evolution Series.
BTL DESIGN
The TAD Labs TAD-M1000TX employs a BTL (bridge-tied load) design that connects two separate amplifiers in a balanced configuration for the left and right channels in the amplification circuit from input through to the output stages. In this design, positive and negative power supplies maintain perfect symmetry between them, and all power supply circuits are designed separately for each channel. TAD also redesigned the earthing point, which serves as a reference point for symmetry, not only electrically but also structurally. Plus they also redesigned the circuit and its layout in the first amplification stage.
HIGH-CAPACITY TRANSFORMERS
The TAD-M1000TX is powered by upgraded twin high-capacity dropper toroidal transformers with a power rating of 1 kVA each. To increase the purity of power supply, the internal coil of the transformer is directly connected to the power supply circuit, minimizing the contact points with leading wires. Plus, terminals for directly connected coils, mounting terminals for motherboards, and clamping screws are all made of oxygen-free copper coated with nonmagnetic materials The shape of cross-section of the transformer core has been redesigned to circular in the TAD-M1000TX, from square in its predecessor. The circular design improves contact between the core and coils, minimizing unwanted leakage of magnetic flux and vibrations.
POWER RATING OF 500 WATTS PER CHANNEL AT 4 OHMS
The TAD-M1000TX delivers 500 watts per channel at 4 ohms. This is made possible by the simplified Class-D single-output-stage consisting of power MOSFET devices with ultra-low on-resistance in leadless packages with lower power losses and higher-speed responses, TAD Labs tell us.
TAD LABS TAD-M1000TX POWER AMPLIFIER VIBRATION CONTROL DESIGN
The heavy body of the TAD-M1000TX is supported by a three-point support structure with internally inverted spikes, which isolates its chassis from external vibrations traveling through the floor. The minimum contact with the surface on which the TAD-M1000TX sits keeps external vibrations from traveling through the feet and adversely affecting circuits and parts inside the case. Heavy-duty extra-large, high-quality speaker terminals on the rear panel, similar to the ones found in the Reference Series power amplifiers, reduce mechanical and electrical stress on connected speaker cables to improve their stability.
BI-AMPING OPTION
The TAD-M1000TX offers a bi-amping option for compatible speakers. With this option, one TAD- M1000TX can be connected to the tweeter terminals of right and left speakers and another to their woofer terminals. The bi-amping connection eliminates interference between speaker units, improving their separation., says TAD.+
