This room held something truly special for me: the introduction of Hungarian-made Heed Audio. The heart of the setup was the acclaimed Heed Thesis Delta CD player paired with the Lagrange flagship integrated amplifier, known for its use of Heed’s proprietary Transcap technology. This innovative approach bypasses direct coupling with the speaker, utilising an “RC-coupling” circuit with a resistor and capacitor. The speakers of choice were the Swiss-made Boenicke W8 and W5, which not only delivered amazing sound but also boasted a friendly footprint, making them a realistic option for many apartments.

The QUAD and Audiolab rooms were truly captivating, introducing the newly released QUAD Revela 1 and 2 speakers, which are impressively executed and exude a remarkable presence. The attention to detail in their design and the quality of sound they produce are truly commendable. However, while the new Audiolab 9000 series is undoubtedly impressive in its own right, I couldn’t help but wonder if there might be an even better match for these exceptional speakers.
