TECHNICS SL-1200GR2 AND 1210GR2 DIRECT DRIVE TURNTABLES LAUNCHED
Technics has introduced the next generation of Direct Drive Turntables with a new drive control method for smooth, accurate rotational stability and a new power supply for an “exceptionally low noise floor”.
Technics has released its legendary SL-1200 and 1210GR turntable in a new GR2 version. They are the first of Technics’ new generation of turntables featuring the new ΔΣ-Drive, which suppresses minute vibrations from the motor and improves the electromagnetic conversion accuracy of the cartridge.

The foundation of these new turntables is built upon the iron-coreless direct drive motor known for its superior rotational precision. Technics has employed advanced signal precision technology inspired by their Reference amplifier SU-R1000, which optimizes vinyl analogue signals using intricate digital techniques.
MOTOR CONTROL SIGNAL
One of the standout improvements in the SL-1200GR2/SL-1210GR2 is the motor control signal. Unlike earlier versions relying on analogue RF oscillators, these new models generate the motor control signal through PWM signal generation using ΔΣ (Delta Sigma) Modulation, resulting in a perfect sine wave and significantly reduced motor vibrations.
To further enhance rotational speed precision, the turntables utilise a rotation feedback system based on speed detection using a frequency generator (FG) powered by magnetic induction.

The power supply system also received significant attention, resulting in the Multi-stage Silent Power Supply. It combines a low-noise, high-speed power supply operating at over 100kHz with a noise-cancelling circuit inherited from the reference-class SL-1000R turntable. This design minimizes noise and achieves an impressive signal-to-noise ratio.
TECHNICS GR2 AESTHETICS
While retaining much of the previous model’s mechanical design, Technics has subtly refined the overall aesthetics of the GR2 generation. A new colour scheme and enhanced body surface touch quality contribute to the turntables’ visual appeal.
ECO FRIENDLY
In a move towards sustainability, Technics has introduced eco-friendly packaging for the SL-1200GR2/SL-1210GR2, eliminating Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) in favour of smart-shaped cardboard. This packaging maintains product protection while being more environmentally responsible, setting a positive example for future packaging materials.
