“Our new Crossfade 2 Wireless Codex Edition is shrinking the gap between the sound quality of wireless and wired playback for a sound signature that is meticulously sculpted for audiophiles, gamers and professional musicians-alike. ” says Val Kolton, CEO of V-Moda
The V-Moda Crossfade 2 Wireless Codex Edition is a “hybrid Bluetooth and pure analogue wired headphone” which they say has virtually identical sound in both modes. It features certified Hi-Res Audio when cabled and high-quality audio codecs when in wireless mode. Crossfade 2 Wireless Codex Edition features Qualcomm aptX over Bluetooth for MacOS and higher-end Android phones. It also supports the Advanced Audio Codec (AAC) for iOS and other devices along with the “universal standard” Sub-band codec (SBC).
The headphones feature large memory foam cushions and a SteelFlex headband with a CliqFold hinge which folds the headphones into a small, included Exoskeleton case. There is a built-in hidden microphone for phone calls and voice recognition with a ARAMID fibre-reinforced 1-Button Speakeasy cable for wired use included. They are made from a combination of steel and vegan leather. The rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides 14+ hours of music, entertainment and calls. Using the FastCharge, 30 minutes of charging provides 4 hours of playback while reaching a full recharge requires about 150 minutes. Additionally, users can continue listening even when the battery is dead by plugging in the supplied cable.
The V-Moda Crossfade 2 Wireless Codex Edition is priced at $350 in the USA with the company offering trade in discounts with previous models.
