NEW ADDITION TO WHARFEDALE FLAGSHIP ELYSIAN SERIES OF LOUDSPEAKERS

Wharfedale has introduced the Elysian 3, a new addition to its flagship Elysian line of speakers.

This compact floorstanding speaker is designed to fit a variety of room sizes. The Elysian 3 features a three-way, four-driver design similar to its larger sibling, the Elysian 4.

FULL ELYSIAN SERIES

The Elysian 4 and Elysian 2 were previously launched by Wharfedale in 2020 and were praised for their performance and affordability. However, these speakers require a sizable listening space due to their dimensions. To expand the appeal of the Elysian Series, Wharfedale introduced more compact options, including the Elysian 1 in 2021 and now the Elysian 3 in summer 2023.

WHARFEDALE ELYSIAN 3 LOUDSPEAKERS

The Elysian 3 has dimensions of 105x26x29cm (HxWxD), making it about 11% shorter and a third less wide and deep than the Elysian 4. Despite its smaller size, the Elysian 3 maintains the same driver, crossover, and cabinet engineering that distinguishes the Elysian Series. It features a 27x90mm AMT treble driver, a 150mm midrange unit, and two 180mm bass drivers. It has a sensitivity of 89dB.

The Elysian 3 utilizes an AMT treble unit instead of the traditional domed diaphragm found in most tweeters. The AMT driver, based on Air Motion Transformer technology, offers efficient and accurate high-frequency sound reproduction.

MIDRANGE

The midrange driver of the Elysian 3 is designed to match the sensitivity and accuracy of the AMT treble unit. It features a 150mm woven glass fibre cone and a specially shaped phase plug, which is designed to ensure a natural response to the music.

WHARFEDALE ELYSIAN 3 BASS DRIVERS

The Elysian 3’s bass drivers incorporate glass fibre matrix cones, similar to the midrange unit, along with a low-distortion motor system. These drivers are supported by Wharfedale’s Slot-Loaded Profiled Port (SLPP) system, which optimizes bass response and increases efficiency by venting the lowest frequency energy through a specially profiled slot at the base of the speaker.

To achieve a balanced performance, the drivers’ output is combined via a sophisticated crossover network.

WHARFEDALE ELYSIAN 3 CABINET

The Elysian 3’s cabinet is designed to enhance the acoustic output while minimizing panel resonance and unwanted sound energy leakage. The handcrafted veneers and piano lacquer finish contribute to its elegant appearance.

WHARFEDALE ELYSIAN 3 PRICE

The Wharfedale Elysian 3 is available in black, white, or walnut finishes and retails at an RRP of £5,999 per pair. It comes with stainless steel spikes, spike seats, speaker jumper cables, and a pair of handling gloves.

The Elysian Series also includes a center speaker, the Elysian C, for home cinema systems.
