TWO NEW PHONO EQUALISERS FROM AURORASOUND, JAPAN
Aurorasound of Japan has launched two new phono equalisers, the Aurorasound VIDA 2 and Aurorasound EQ-100.
AURORASOUND VIDA 2 PHONO EQUALISER
The original VIDA came out in 2012 and the revised Aurorasound VIDA 2 takes its strengths and builds on them. The standard Aurorasound VIDA 2 offers two sets of inputs which can be either set to MM or MC with the option of switching between low and high impedance loads on MC. The VI6 version (rear pictured) offers a wider range of six load impedances for the MC inputs.
BALANCED XLR
The Aurorasound VIDA 2 can also be ordered with Balanced XLR outputs and Balanced inputs too if required.
AURORASOUND EQ-100 PHONO EQUALISER
The Aurorasound EQ100 is a phono equaliser aimed principally at the collector of older LPs and indeed 78s. Inputs from either an MC, MM or Variable Reluctance cartridge can be selected and are summed to mono and fed through an adjustable EQ network that allows various roll-off and turnover curves to be applied depending on the EQ applied when the recording was initially cut. A dual-mono output can be sent to the line-level inputs of a stereo amplifier or pre-amplifier.
78 recordings from various labels had different EQ applied originally, and it took some time before many of the record companies producing micro groove LPs adopted the RIAA standard (with some labels not until the 1970s). It’s a useful facility to be able to hear these records as they were intended to be heard.
AURORASOUND VIDA 2 AND AURORASOUND EQ-100 PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
In its standard form, the RRP of the VIDA 2 is £3659.95
