On May 14th, 2020, New York City-area studio wizard and guitar czar Les Techno shares a brand new single “Flowers For Dystopia”, part of his upcoming album of the same name set for release in late July.

It’s safe to assume that everyone has their worries about the state of the world right now. The latest single from NYC genre-bending studio wiz Les Techno, “Flowers For Dystopia”, is among a growing number of musical products from the underlying tension of COVID-19. Conceived in a dream, “Flowers” addresses the need to connect with others amidst the “objects” (COVID-19) that you can’t see, preventing you from living a normal life. It’s all addressed with classic rock guitar riffs and a driving bass line.

Les Techno is a New York City killer guitarist and studio wiz that plays in the usual NYC punk rock hangouts, including in the bands Sim-Stim and Love Posse.  While working on his “studio tan,” Les made hip-hop tracks with rap artists Run-DMC (Profile), Mobb Deep (Loud/RCA) and Onyx (Def Jam/Sony) (among others).   He  worked with  legendary funkmaster Bernie Worrell (Downtown, Virgin/EMI).  His club tracks include  reggae dance-hall records for Georgie Blacks (“Kickup Unwine”, RCA) and techno-dance records for Stimulator (“Are you a Freak?”/ PowWow).

Les  Techno’s  album presents songs of social satire with sonic influences ranging from hip-hoppy grooves and 80’s punk-wave to electric guitar psychedelia and electronic music.  Les Techno’s sound is sometimes compared to Nick Cave, XTC, Psychedelic Furs, Tame Impala and Cage the Elephant.

This first release from the album, “Flowers for Dystopia”, was produced while the COVID-19 virus raged in NYC. The song swept into Lester’s mind late one night in a dream.

Les Techno’s recent single “Edge of the World” reached #20 Indie DRT Chart and #144 Global DRT Chart in December 2019.  “Edge of the World” was added to Obscure Sound’s Best of Sept 2019 playlist.   His single  “Where Were You?” was featured on Detroit’s WRIF “Underground Sound System” in 2018
